At this point, the Google Play app review process has become a security liability. I have had an app update for #Conversations_im in the review queue since April 28th. Previously, app updates have been rejected for stupid, hallucinated reasons; this time, we are just being ignored entirely. The release is not shipping any security fixes, but imagine if it did.

Grundsätzlich ist DC frei und föderiert und die Leute, die es machen, sind voll in Ordnung. Kein Vergleich zu Signal, Threema oder Wire.
Aber DC ist in der Entwicklung zentralisiert, so daß man kaum eine realistische Chance hat, eine unabhängige Implementierung zu bauen. Es gibt nur wenige Clients und die basieren alle auf dem selben Framework. Echte Standardisierung mit vollkommen unabhängig entwickelten Clients sind bei #Jabber/#XMPP und Matrix normal…

Mir wäre nicht bekannt, dass mein Nutzer mal Probleme mit Benachrichtigungen bei #Conversations hatten. 🤔
Man sollte jedoch auch die Admins im Hinterkopf behalten. Ich finde die besten App bringen nichts, wenn die coolen Nerds kein Lust haben die Server zu betreiben. Die #XMPP Server sind echt super.

Estoy leyendo por aquí quejas de que OMEMO no funciona en Kaidan.
Me pregunto hasta qué punto es problema de Kaidan, que usa la versión 0.8.3 del XEP (OMEMO2) y no de que la gran mayoría de clientes se hayan quedado en la versión 0.3.0 (asumo que para mantener compatibilidad con Conversations).

- Die beste Sicherheit ist nutzlos wenn #Phishing (oder #Quishing in diesem Fall) & #SocialEngineering / #SocialHacking funktionieren.
Trotzdem sehe ich #Signal als zentralisierter Abbieter in Teilen in Verantwortung, denn anders als #XMPP+#OEMO & #PGP/MIME ist deren System #SingleVendor & #SingleProvider, d.h. Keywords wie "#Support" könnten für Usernames gesperrt werden.

Hoste meinen eigenen Mailserver wie auch alle oben genannten Services (excl Signal) selbst.
Dass ich ein Microsoft und Hoogle-Konto habe, ist meinem Arbeitgeber geschuldet... da müsste ich kündigen... nutze diese Services aber nur mit zugehaltener Nase und so selten wie möglich.
Windows 11 hab ich allerdings seit kurzem neu im Portfolio... für genau 2 Anwendungen für die Modellbahn, die ich mit wine nicht zum Funktionieren überreden konnte... und die der Hersteller ausschließlich für Win anbietet.
Aber es rennt mit #winboat im Container, der nur für diese beiden Anwendungen gestartet wird.
