I thought I would mix it up for #thicktrunktuesday by showing off my own, personal, thick trunk (with me for scale 😄).

I think it's a Pacific Ponderosa Pine, but whoever planted it was long gone by the time we bought the house.

Not a great photo, but I'm kind of digging the spooky vibe of it. No edits/filters. Just a phone at dusk.

Ce chêne remarquable se situe a la sortie du village de Bresilley en Haute-Saône en Franche-Comté, France. Selon la légende, le Roi Louis XI se serait reposé à l’ombre de son feuillage vers 1470. Depuis l'époque de cette photo, des étais ont été placés pour soutenir certaines branches. / This remarkable oak tree stands on the outskirts of the village of Bresilley in Haute-Saône, Franche-Comté, France. According to legend, King Louis XI is said to have rested in the shade of its branches around 1470. Since this photograph was taken, supports have been put in place to prop up some of the branches.

This tree is at Salem Willows park but it isn't a willow. The trunk is probably 4 feet in diameter. Leaves look like maple at first glance but they really only have three sections, not five. Sycamore, maybe?

One of my favourite places on Dartmoor is Wistman's Wood, and I took a friend to see it, on a warm and sunny day, earlier this month.
A short walk from the road takes you to a boulder-strewn hillside, densely-packed with stunted oaks, mosses, lichens, and ferns; a small oasis of residual temperate rainforest in the barren expanse of the Moor.
It's a magical spot.
