Good morning!

November is Thanksgiving month in the US, and today I am giving thanks for the restorative power of sleep.

Back to physical therapy for my foot today, laundry, and maybe some writing.

I'm trying to decide if I should buy and cook a turkey just for myself this year. I started doing that when I was alone for Thanksgiving after my divorce. I'd eat what I could, then freeze a lot of portions to eat over the winter. Even when I was invited to Thanksgiving at someone's house, I'd cook my turkey the next day so I could have the leftovers.

This year I'm going to a restaurant with a friend on the day, and am not planning to order turkey. It's an expensive, gourmet restaurant with much better things on the menu.

Maybe I'll just go to the store tomorrow and see if they have fresh turkeys for sale.

Since today marks another trip around the sun (really?), the RFL asked where I wanted to celebrate and I announced that I would like nothing better than to indulge in fried chicken from the new kebab joint. We baked a sweet potato in the wood stove and I cooked up a pot of special (and expensive) Lake Trasimeno field peas. So good! When I was growing up in GA, field peas were poor people's food, and we could get 5 cans for $1. Here they are about $15 a pound, but so worth it. #Umbria #Today
