Am Tag 2 ging es mit der Fähre bei Mauken über die Elbe. Ein kurzer Gruß an den Fluss, wir würden uns ja einen Tag später bei Magdeburg wieder sehen. Weiter führte der Weg durch die Dübener Heide bis nach Leipzig. Von dort ging es entlang der Weißen Elster und Luppe durch eine wunderschöne Auenlandschaft - für mich ein Highlight dieser Reise.
Am Abend nach der Etappe gab es noch etwas #lostplace am Schleusenbauwerk in Wüsteneutzsch, dem nicht fertig gestellten Teil des Mittellandkanals.

🌿 Steampunk Greenhouse, somewhere in Italy.
Dense overgrowth shrouds the greenhouse, the wrought ironwork rusted brown as years pass.
Vines twist and contort as they climb up the ironwork. Larger varieties of vines criss-cross the floor and lie in rope-like coils near the entrance.

Hiding in plain sight on the grounds of an active hospital, this abandoned auditorium stands as a curious relic of the site's past. The only outward clues to its existence are a modest door sign and a striking green oxidised copper dome. Features that are seemingly out of place among the surrounding modern medical blocks.

During dry periods, which have become more frequent in recent years, Lake Eder experiences low water levels and many sunken relics, including the Aseler Bridge, reappear.

Since Roman times, people have bathed in the healing waters of this region. After a popular 17th-century novel sang the praises of the healing waters, the hot springs became popular. A new spa resort was built, which remained popular until the mid-20th century.
By the 1980s the spa finally closed.

These are the ruins of what was planned to be Germany's largest nuclear power plant. Construction began in 1982 near Stendal. After visiting the site over eight years ago, I saw a fascinating documentary about it. Entire residential areas were built for the workers. In the end, the project failed due to a shortage of materials and the fall of the Berlin Wall.
