Beneath a Florida boardwalk in the Everglades, sunlight filters through weathered beams onto tall reeds below. The repeating lines create a calm rhythm of shadow and symmetry, blending human design with the quiet beauty of the wetlands. Perfect for a modern or nature-inspired home.

A silent watcher beneath the green surface — this alligator was just a few feet away, perfectly hidden among the duckweed and reeds of the Florida Everglades. A reminder that in these waters, the wild is always closer than it seems.

Incredible on an oversized medium, metal, canvas and a great gift idea for the nature lover in your life.

I live in north #Florida and Gulf Fritillaries are fortunately common. Always enjoy watching them... but my favorite is the "Zebra Longwing"... our official state insect!

🚨“More than $6 billion in DeSantis ‘emergency’ contracts are missing legally required public documentation.

Roughly three out of every four high-value, “emergency procurement” contracts the governor’s office has awarded are missing the legally required public documentation."

Black skimmers begin nesting on our beaches in the spring and we get to watch them grow from little baby puff balls to adolescents to adults over the summer. This bowl, with its rounded bottom so that it can rock and spin on a flat surface, almost functions as a diorama. It honestly feels more like a toy than anything else. My husband spun it around in the water so that I could shoot some video which I’ll post later. This piece belongs to the Gulf. #pottery #ceramics #nature #birds #Florida

Looking forward to visiting the new Mote Aquarium in Sarasota, Florida the next time I visit my dad. I despise much about Florida (politics and heat, especially) but this sounds very cool.

“All of the springs within the proposed park are already permanently protected. They’re part of various state parks, state preserves, state forests, and national forests. Changing state parks or state forests into national forests or national parks doesn’t do any of the things that need to be done to actually restore the springs.”

I'm going through images to fulfill a media request and wanted to share these with you. These are photos my talented friend Shoog McDaniel took of my #pottery underwater in 2022. Shoog mostly takes photos of people in #nature, focusing on fat bodies, often showing how buoyant and weightless they become under the clear, turquoise water of our #Florida springs. We took a quick break to celebrate my husband’s birthday and visit some freshwater springs a couple of hours north. The springs remain a crisp 68-70°F year round. After a long hot summer, I needed to feel chilled to the core and refreshed.

Pirate’s Bay 🏴‍☠️ Charlotte Harbor

Jose Gaspar was a Spanish naval officer turned pirate in the late 1700s. It is said that he used Charlotte Harbor’s islands as hidden base camps, and Sanibel island nearby was named after his 1st Commander’s love. Gasparilla’s operations were dismantled by the Navy right before retirement.

A stroll around Park Lake 🚶‍♀️

Before the agricultural boom in the Orlando area by settlers in the early 1900s, it was primarily wetlands with massive oak, mangrove, cypress trees. Natural resources were largely harvested for furniture and ships throughout Florida. Today, you’ll find preservation of once was in the crevices of the town, for locals to stumble upon on their evening walks.

A couple days ago I heard a loud *thunk* on the outside of the house. A couple minutes later I spotted this Turkey Vulture on top of a nearby telephone pole. It flew away after about 10 minutes of rest.
