[Shared]A few months ago, I wrote about my latest work notebook, a vintage Filofax. Itās working so well for me that I wish I had bought a Filofax in this size years ago to use for this purpose. I canāt help regretting all those wasted decades of using random office supply closet notebooks (as well as some nicer notebooks received as samples or bought since starting this blog)! Now that I have found a satisfying set-up, I think Iāll be sticking with it, but the question is how long will I continue to need a work notebook if I am likely to retire within the next decade? This is just one more indication of my notebook addictionā Iām worried that if I stop working, Iāll have fewer notes to write, and fewer reasons to use notebooks!
For now this is the manner in which I have to monitor my storage devices, using an obsolete notebook.
Make no mistake the middle IPS LED panel is not, I repeat _not_ driven by The Notebook. A dedicated audio device is driving that screen. A device which runs 24/7 using an embedded Linux version. This is one of the devices I have connected to my Analog Audio network, to make sure that there's always an audio signal in the network.
I'm using a Live version of my favorite Linux distribution. As you may remember, none of my bootable storage devices can be used, since they all have EFI and the notebook doesn't even know what language that is let alone access them in a bootable fashion.

This is a wonderful development. When you buy a fully assembled Computing system chances are high that you are also paying for a license for an operating system which is closed š source.
It often happens that people buy the hardware without thinking about the steep amount of money they pay for the license, when they don't even use it since they will run either a free GNU / GPL Open Source Operating System or an Operating System from the Berkeley side of Open Source.
Regardless paying for a license which you will not use is never a good thing.
