🚄 In two weeks i am going from #Nuremberg to #Birmingham by train. It is 12 hours compared to a direct flight with 9 hours, including first leg to airport and waiting-time and last leg to destination.
It is my first time on a #EuroStar.
What should i keep in mind?
How is the food, is there a restaurant onboard like in the TGV or Talgo 250?
Gerade bei der Tschechischen Bahn eine Sitzplatzreservierung für den ICE Hamburg-München für knapp die Hälfte des DB-Preises gebucht. Eigentliche Fahrkarte ist von der DB. Hat das schon mal jemand gemacht? Gibt es Erfahrungen/Probleme? Muss ich auf etwas achten?

- They want your biometric data - buh!
+ There is an App for that and it takes about 5 - 7 min. If you have a credit card that is.
+ If you miss your train because of this Eurostar gives you a seat on the next available train.

@SuicideSchaf gute Frage. Irgendwie falsche Richtung. Ich hab glaube ich erst in einem halben Jahr wieder einen Termin in Zürich. Ich hatte gehofft, dass ich so lange drauf verzichten kann. Aber es fehlt mir schon jetzt.
I didn't realize today's TGV Lyria was gonna be routed via LGV Est. That explains why it takes 30 minutes longer than usual. We took about 30 minutes to join LGV Est via LGV Interconnection. A bit odd to start in Gare de Lyon but I guess it'd be weirder to switch Paris terminals and would confuse regular passengers. In any case, an unexpected #StreckenSammler.
Rückfahrt! Diese Verbindung hatte ich ursprünglich gebucht und nach dem Nachtzug-Desaster auf dem Hinweg wieder storniert. Ich hatte irgendwie ein schlechtes Gefühl dabei 🤪
Ich kann hellsehen!
Oder bin ich einfach realistischer geworden mit meiner Zug-Planung?

Diesmal habe ich zum Glück nicht nur eine halbe Stunde Puffer eingeplant, sondern eine ganze. Die Stuttgarter S-Bahn ist so kaputt, dass man eigentlich am Tag vorher losfahren und am Hauptahnhof übernachten müsste, wenn man weg will.

Hey, ich brauch mal eure Hilfe! Meine Frau möchte am 11.10. von Hamburg nach Rouen-Rive-Droite mit dem Zug fahren. Am 6.11. soll es zurück gehen, dazwischen 4 Wochen intensives Französisch-Lernen.
Nachtzug fällt aus, weil er einerseits nicht am Anreisetag oder in der Nacht zuvor fährt und andererseits der Zug einen oder zwei Tage davor nur noch Sitzplätze frei hatte, keine Liegewagenplätze (European Sleeper nach Paris).
Ich habe schon bei seat61.com gesucht und da einige wertvolle Hinweise gefunden, wenigstens für Hamburg-Paris. int.bahn.de kann aber entweder keinen Preis oder kein Angebot ermitteln oder es kommen günstigstenfalls ~€200 nur für die Hinfahrt dabei raus. 1/2

Mysteriously the #ES452 of 2026-09-10 shows up as having arrived on time to destination, even when picking intermediate stops like Utrecht, on zugfinder and chuuchuu. Perhaps they get confused by the partial cancellations and station changes. I'm not sure I'm using these correctly.

**Is there historic data for booked out TGVs?**
Like, I'd like to assign for a trip on the navigator (say Lyon Marseille) a probability that I won't be able to buy a ticket. And since Lyon-Avignon being booked out is (probably) highly correlated to Avignon-Marseille being booked out, I'd need the original "on day X, these segments were booked out […,…,]"

Update! Jetzt mit Live-Map und 15‑mal so vielen Bahnhöfen: Ihr könnt die Situation der einzelnen Züge im Fernverkehr auf einer Karte sehen. Weil statt vorher 18 nun 280 Bahnhöfe beobachtet werden, lässt sich die Verspätungssituation auch regional gut betrachten. Zudem gibt es einen Train-Tracker (jeder Fernzug hat eine eigene URL) und die historischen Verspätungsdaten sind via API als #OpenData abrufbar. #bahn #verspaetung verspaetung.net

I got to take the train in Slovakia, on the mainline between Bratislava and Košice. Without my bicycle but a good opportunity to check the #CyclingOnRails situation! 🚂🚲
The carriages with open-plan seats (rather than compartments) have a bicycle area at one end, sometimes horizontal sometimes vertical. Luggage shelves are rather narrow but overhead racks are available.
Do we have someone with French knowledge in the #bahnbubble (#bulleferroviare?) who can explain the reasoning/methods that SNCF Connect uses to propose a travel leg by car in their planner?
Is this something they promote somehow? What is an actual intended case this should come up? Assuming they don’t actually expect people have SimCity-esque pocket cars to cross a city.
