Guten Morgen #Fediverse.

Heute vor 14 Jahren begann eine Reise, die uns bis heute führt. Das Projekt #Friendica feiert seinen 14. Geburtstag. Daraus entstand die Föderation zwischen Plattformen und Protokollen, die uns in das heutige #Fediverse führt.

Initiiert wurde das Projekt von Mike Macgirvin, der dem Überwachungskapitalismus auf Facebook etwas entgegensetzen wollte und dazu #Mistpark, später Friendica, ins Leben rief. Damit gab er sich und allen Nutzenden die Macht über ihre Daten zurück, die unveräußerlich sind und nur einem Zweck dienen: Menschen zu vernetzen.

Happy Birthday to the oldest fediverse server project that is still actively maintained. This marks the beginning of development of the Mistpark decentralised social network. It was almost exactly 14 years ago, on May 13th, 2010, that @Mike Macgirvin 🖥️ conceived Mistpark. All by itself revolutionary and with features which no-one else has ever built into a decentralised project until today, it was only the first step of a long journey which led to Friendica, nomadic identity, Hubzilla, all three still before Mastodon, and eventually the streams repository.
