This form of protest does not make sense to me in monetary terms. The argument is that burning Teslas will inflict financial losses on Tesla and Musk. Though, all these cars are likely insured, meaning that the financial loss is minimal. Burning old stock also means that Tesla can get their newest iteration of eg. the Model Y into customers hands without having to clear as much of the old model from shelves first. That is doing Tesla a favor.
