Do you think that an animation that blends in an edit icon (probably a pencil) might be better? We're considering to remove the tooltip there. @alsorew
@Codeberg @alsorew Yup, 100%. - Show what would happen once the user clicks the avatar. Blending in an icon seems appropriate. - Make it so that the whole clickable area gives a hint that you can click it once you hover it. Sounds trivial, but many fails this. Can I click outside of the circle crop? Simple hover border would IMO do. - Make sure it's accessible. Is icon enough for all folks or should there be an "edit" label as well? What will happen on keyboard navigation? Will the icon be contrast enough for all avatars? - And as we talked about it: Don't create deceiving affordances 😊
There are many color themes to choose from. As a color-blind person, I want to point out that there is no one-size-fits-all, and there never will be. Sometimes a lower contrast is actually good.
@alsorew Did you explicitly choose the current theme, or did you just keep it as the default? If chosen explicitly, would you mind giving us a few hints on why? Any specific issues?
And another question as we are just coming out of an accessibility meeting where this input might help: Do you have issues reading inline links? One example would be the new repo form at codeberg.org/repo/create with the "Migrate repository" being a link in the first line (before the actual form starts).
Tried them all and chose forgejo-auto. Great so far.
My advice is always: do not convey the information with just one “bit” (just color, just size, etc.). In your example, the Migrate repository link should be underlined. Again, no one-size-fits-all, but you can make separate versions of your themes (Mastodon has the High contrast theme with underlines, for example). You can also make the underlines a separate color to make them less distracting.
