#Pachli Current includes the new faceted search feature (mastodon.social/@pachli/112790…), ready for feedback.

A couple of changes I'm planning on making before final release:

1. Allow searches without entering any text

2. (possibly) Arrange the UI in 3 rows with scrolling (similar to GMail search, see screenshot). This saves some screen space, but might require a horizontal scroll for some searches

Other feedback welcomed.

Did you know that #Mastodon 4.2.0 introduced additional search filters?

You can add text like "from:me", "has:media", "is:reply", or "language:de" to your search text to limit the results further.

That's not very user friendly, so we can do better.

Here's a user-interface change I'm iterating on for the next version of #Pachli.

Proposed UI for additional search filter controls in Pachli. Filters are shown as "chips". Active filters are highlighted, and can be cleared by pressing the "x" on the filter chip.

Should have mentioned -- this works in #Mastodon and #glitchsoc servers from 4.2.0 onwards. The "from" filter works from 3.5.0 onwards.

The "from" filter works in #gotosocial 0.16.0 and up.

And the "from" and "language" filters work in #friendica 2024.3 and later releases.

If other server types support these search queries let me know.

With version 4.2.0 Mastodon added full text search. People asked for a better guide, so I am trying to create one. If I missed something or there is a mistake, please let me know in the comments.
