He descubierto #XMPP y tengo algo que decir al respecto:

Es lo mejor que he tocado relacionado a mensajería instantanea, realmente INSTANTANEA.

Quede totalmente enamorado con este protocolo, lo probé hoy mismo; ahora se que es realmente la mensajería instantanea, no entiendo porque carajos nunca me animé a probarlo.

Me duele admitir esto pero nada que envidiarle a #Matrix , #DeltaChat , #Signal , etc. No los reemplaza, claro, pero vamos hay que saber admitir que XMPP es una jodida belleza.

Ya había escuchado de este protocolo pero la verdad creo que me abstuve por todo lo que escuchaba, de que era muy complicado, inseguro, poco práctico y normalmente no me lo recomendaba nadie. Pero ya no más, hoy mismo me declaro fanático de XMPP.

Tendré que sacar tiempo para aprender mas sobre este protocolo, y quien sabe que en un futuro me digne a autohospedarlo.

#DeltaChat hatte in meinen Tests vor ein paar Jahren ungenügende Zustellungsdauer, die nicht zu Echtzeitmessaging passt. Von den alternativen offenen Lösungen scheint mir #Matrix/#Element die modernste alltagstaugliche Architektur zu haben, daher nutze ich privat jetzt das und hoffe, möglichst viele Kontakte aus WhatsApp bald dort zu begrüßen.

We have a fresh continuwuity release (26.8.1) out for you today. I recommend updating, there is a small security fix included. However, let's talk about what's new!

We have one more step towards "Matrix 2.0" (sticky events). Now we are only missing delayed events, which are just about done. We track the health of other servers, and stop sending them events when they're down (and start again, when we hear from them again). We've also fixed a lot of small bugs that should make rooms "behave better" from the client side.

With Google closing down the #Android ecosystem more and more, I think there is a lesson to be learned about relying on something that is technically open source but largely controlled by a single company. That’s why I would be very careful building something on top of #Matrix.

It's so sad that despite being so good and popular especially as of late, there are so few active friendly social communities on Matrix (that aren't software projects).

Like, #Discord has thousands upon thousands of little book clubs, language exchanges, friend groups, movie nights, hobby clubs and so on. Anything you want you can immediately find an active little community.
And then the Matrix directories are pretty much dead.

I wanna put my effort where my mouth is, so ...

If I opened a cosy Matrix space for queer folks as a pioneer project, deliberately similar in form and purpose to the many similar Discord servers out there, would you be interested in joining?

Specifically, that'd mean a general-purpose Matrix space, with several rooms such as #general, #pictures, #pets, #hobbies, #bots and so on; and actively used Matrix features such as roles and threads and channels.

If so, please leave a comment or a message. If I find more than an awkwardly small number couple of people are interested, I shall get on it and invite everyone at once.
