One of the projects from the mixed up pile of floss last #WIPWednesday is officially back in action for this one.
This is Beachfront Home by @infinitybear and I've been working on it on and off for what seems like years at this point, every time I pick it up I remember how much bigger than expected it is! Today saw some progress on the sky, while binge watching driving mock test videos 🙈

#WIPWednesday : I'm finally remaking the lace for my colonial cap. I put one of my first lace projects on it before, but I'm better now! And I found a lace that is more period- and region-appropriate.
I think it needs to be a smidge smaller still, so one more iteration to come. But this is fine for now.

This #WIPWednesday has been mostly focused on cross stitching. I have finished the entire centre strip of my faith cross project now, apart from some white bits which I need to wait for better daylight to complete. I am moving on to working on the right hand side next. ☺️
I also cast on yet another pair of socks, these being for a family member. The pattern is “Elise” by Ashley Ratnam and is featured in “52 Weeks Of Socks Vol 2”. It is a very enjoyable pattern so far!

I did it! Almost had the last row finished last night, but it was bedtime so I did the last few stitches this morning instead.
Now just to wait for it to dry from this half-hearted pre-blocking, seam the front and back panels together, add a border round the bottom, realise it's indecently short and add more border again, block it properly, weave in all the ends, and hope like hell the blue slip I've ordered to go under it fits because that was surprisingly hard to find on the modern internet.
Basically done, right?! 😅

For this #WIPWednesday I have been mostly doing cross stitch with a bit of knitting sprinkled in. I worked on my faith cross project and have made some progress on the base of the cross. I also shopped for floss and aida for a new start which I am quite excited about. Even though I still have a way to go to finish my current cross stitch, it is always reassuring to have a new start ready to go in the stash. The photo is of my progress today ☺️

I bought this entirely too cutesy, not me at all dress from Vinted ages ago for a holiday, but it's far too big in the back despite fitting everywhere else.
So tonight for #WIPWednesday I'm putting on my big girl pants and figuring out how to adjust it instead of leaving it smooshed up in a ball on the bottom of the wardrobe.
Hopefully it's simple because #sewing of any kind is really not my forte. But I have to at least try, or the dream of pairing it with big black clompy boots will die and we can't have that!

Having fun sampling the Schwarznase lamb fleece. Quite a different beast than the Border Leicester I'm also working on. High micron but very silky and super long staple. Easy to comb except when there's wind, so I moved inside after one pass. Still think it may work for socks. Perhaps too prickly.

I have barely done any knitting this week but I just realised there was another project I could share for #WIPWednesday instead.
This is a book nook kit I was given for my birthday last week that I’ve just started making. It’s mostly tiny bits of laser cut wood to pop out and piece together with various bits of plastic, twine and stickers to add in. The kit sells itself as “no glue” but the biggest challenge so far has been manipulating tiny double sided sticky pads to stick bits together. Glue might have been preferable!
Eventually (hopefully) it will make a tiny florist’s shop to sit between the books on my bookcase.
