#Gitea vs. #Forgejo puzzles me a bit. From the outside, this looks much like a people don't like each other problem.
Gitea is still alive & OSS. Forgejo has 2k+ more commits, looks like that's mostly because they update dependencies like crazy.

I've got them both installed and they still look/feel/work exactly the same.

IMHO that would justify a soft fork in case shit hits the fan.
From a user's perspective, gitea is still delivering OSS and has a history of reliably doing so. I'm not against Forgejo at all, but from what I see I just can't decide which of both is the more sustainable choice.

Forgejo started as a soft-fork of course. However, that was becoming more difficult and has serious challenges during development.
