If you block a server using the "domain block" feature on Mastodon, this will cause you to lose any follows or followers you have on that server. The exact number of follows/followers you would lose are shown at the top of the warning when you do the block.

However, if you have done the block accidentally or if you have changed your mind about the block, here is a guide to how you can unblock the server and restore your follows and followers:

I ❤️ FEDIVERSE hat dies geteilt.

As I understand it

If a user blocks an instance then what they actually do is mute it so they don't see any posts from users on that instance

However users on that instance can still see the blocking users posts

It's not a true block

Unless that's changed recently

Yeah, the server block is sort of half-way between a block and a mute. That's covered in a separate guide at fedi.tips/blocking-and-muting-…

This new guide is just for people who want to undo a server block's effects 🙂

I have considered this, but have held off.

The moderation here is excellent, and what slips thru gives me a view into the nonsense. Rarely have to report, easier to just ignore.

BTW, Nicole is in hospice.

@lynnskyi Bewilderingly ridiculous that this is so much harder to undo than apply, with the added 'thrill' of accidentally overriding all of your other follows in the process if you click the wrong thing!

I agree, the Github issue suggests hiding this option a bit more as it has more potential for causing havoc than just blocking a single user.
