I just read the most bewildering spam email I've ever received. It's one that's trying to get me to sign up for tutoring in coding.

  • It opens by severely insulting my current coding ability and repeats this act throughout ("let's face it, I've seen better-structured code from a first-year CS student", etc.)
  • your YouTube livestreaming career has no relevance to this, why bring it up?
  • it's sent from noreply@codeberg.org which… what??
  • okay, here's the kicker: the coding project of mine it's talking about that needs so much work isn't even mine
  • after a little checking around, said coding project doesn't even seem to exist on either Codeberg or GitHub

…what the actual heck?

We've been informed of a case of a malicious actor creating accounts under the pseudonym of a security researcher and leaving such comments in issue trackers on Codeberg and GitHub so as to defame them. If you could give us more details, that'd be great. ~n
