also ich teste es nur mal, es kann mit #Letsencrypt aber nicht mithalten, weil es schon Einschränkungen hat. Zum Beispiel gibt es keine Wildcard-Unterstützung. Das liegt wohl daran, dass hinter dem Projekt ein Unternehmen steht, welches auch kostenpflichtige SSL-Zertifikate anbietet. Das ist bei Letsencrypt ja nicht der Fall.

in den meisten Fällen ist es auch ohne Wildcards okay, ich wollte nur sagen, dass es schon Unterschiede zu #letsencrypt gibt. Die sollten einem ja bewusst sein.

So, also es funktioniert super, habe jetzt aber dennoch erst einmal wieder auf #letsencrypt umgestellt. Grund ist ein Eigentümerwechsel bei buypass und noch ausstehende Informationen, wie es mit dem kostenlosen Zertifikat weiter geht. Sobald es die gibt und die positiv sind, werde ich wirklich auf buypass umstellen.

Ah, zerossl kommt aus Österreich und hört sich auch interessant an. Allerdings, wenn ich die jetzt auch teste, muss ich wohl die nächsten Wochen erst einmal dort bleiben, weil ich bei #letsencrypt so langsam in die Limits laufe ;) ...

Okay, funktioniert auch relativ simpel. Da mein Feedreader ja nur für mich da ist, lass ich das zerossl-Zertifikat dort erst mal laufen.

Nachteil ist, dass das ganze einen Account bei zerossl braucht. Warum auch immer. Dort ist das Zertifikat dann auch vermerkt, fällt aber nicht unter das Kontingent an SSL-Zertifikaten, die dort angegeben sind.

Okay, Vorteil für buypass ist natürlich auch, also davon ab, dass es ohne Registrierung geht, dass die Root-Zertifikate auch aus Norwegen sind und nicht, wie bei zerossl und letsencrypt, aus den USA.

mensch will ja nicht plötzlich ohne SSL-Zertifikat dastehen, weil so ein orangener Mensch aus den USA durchdreht ;) - Favorit bleibt natürlich #letsencrypt, solange das noch sicher ist.

noch cooler wäre natürlich eine europäische Alternative, die ebenso als Non-Profit-Organisation aufgebaut ist. Aber für uns Europäer ist das ja alles Neuland.
