Thank you for your work and transparency! Sending a lot of good thoughts and energy. 💙

I think I will update my README to explicitly include that I endorse those values 😀

One additional idea for fighting the problem: I don't think there should ever be a need to mention 100 users in any comment / commit / issue / whatever.

@schaueho Yes, we'll likely limit this. Implementation seems to be a little more tricky, though, based on a first glance.
Als Antwort auf Codeberg.org

@schaueho FWIW, in Nixpkgs the release managers sometimes have to ping more people than GitHub allows and then have to split it up into multiple comments and hope nobody slipped
Als Antwort auf Codeberg.org

I think a meaningful restriction is around non-project members and pinging non-project people. But project members should be able to ping other contributors with less limits
Als Antwort auf Codeberg.org

Thank you for the swift reaction and I'm sorry you have to deal with this crap 💚

I've been a codeberg user for less than a week. This was the first email I've ever received from you guys since signing up. I'm glad you've addressed it quickly but I turned off public activity days ago, how did they even get my username?
Als Antwort auf Jac

@inabox Usernames can be found by crawling the site or searching for random combinations (e.g. when trying to provide you access to a project).

This makes me wonder about the political alignment of Codeberg. The announcement contains six mentions of far or extreme right, which I suppose is uncontroversial, but it also contains two derogatory statements about right in general, without prefixing it with 'far' or 'extreme'.

Are non-extreme right-leaning contributors welcome, or do I have to move my projects somewhere else if I want to be welcoming to contributors with a diversity of political views?

@squirrel This really depends on who you want to welcome, I suppose. A diversity of political opinions is much appreciated. However, hate and discrimination are no opinions, not even by abusing "free speech" to insult people. People violating our terms of use are definitely not welcome to Codeberg, and any kind of discriminating behaviour won't be tolerated by us.
Als Antwort auf Codeberg.org

Right-wing is a political view that is held by roughly 50% of all people, and it doesn't have anything to do with being hateful. I think it's careless to mix so many people up with a hateful far right minority, and if Codeberg doesn't intend to discriminate against non-hateful non-extreme right-leaning people, the wording of the announcement should be more carefully chosen.
Als Antwort auf Codeberg.org

Codeberg, I'm getting a lot of hate speech directed at me in reaction to me explaining the bland unopinionated schoolbook definition of right-wing politics while distancing myself from hate and far right ideology. Does Codeberg endorse or condemn this hate speech?

You’re all great for doing the work you do. Thanks for looking out for us!

However diversity is an important asset in free/libre software communities and it is what makes our software great and development productive.

What absolute horseshit! Software has no ideological importance. To add or search or colate needs no input about race., color, religion, sexual oreintation, etc.

Codeberg is a racist, sexist organization claiming hate from people who reject racism and sexism.

I do not accept your apologies because there is nothing to apologize for! Some assholes mass-spamed hate speech, you handled it perfectly, thanks for the awesome service you provide. ❤
