Today is #worldbicycleday and we celebrate this humble but fabulous invention. Scientific American has updated the graph of the efficiency of animal locomotion, showing that a human on a bike is the most efficient, even more so than salmon.

Mehr Nachwuchs für die #Fahrradwerkstatt: 2024 haben fast doppelt so viele Azubis (+96,7 %) eine Ausbildung als Zweiradmechatroniker/in (Fahrrad) gestartet wie 2014.
Bei der Fahrradmonteur/in-Ausbildung nahm die Zahl der Neuverträge um 12,7 % zu.
Zum Vergleich: Die Zahl der neu abgeschlossenen Ausbildungsverträge insgesamt ist im selben Zeitraum gesunken: um 7,6 % auf 475 000.

A person on a bike is the world's most energy-efficient mode of transport, and it's not even close. Salmon use three times as many joules/g/km to get around, and then it's jet aircraft at 5x.
