Up, close and personal. Gorski Kotar, Croatia

Lost in a small cabin deep in the forests of Gorski Kotar, I spent several days waiting. Waiting for a movement, a sound, a sign of life. The bears were out there somewhere beyond the trees—unseen, yet never truly absent. In the silence of the mountains, time seemed to slow down. This photograph is as much about that waiting as it is about the animals I came to film. Sometimes documentary work is simply about being there, alone, long enough for the forest to accept your presence.

Perdu dans une cabane au milieu des forêts du Gorski Kotar, j’ai passé plusieurs jours à attendre. Attendre un mouvement, un bruit, une présence. Les ours étaient là, quelque part derrière les arbres, invisibles mais jamais vraiment absents. Dans le silence de la montagne, le temps ralentit. Cette image raconte autant cette attente que les animaux que je venais filmer. Parfois, le documentaire consiste simplement à être là, seul, assez longtemps pour que la forêt accepte votre présence.

Light Through the Wild — When the Sun Whispers Through Dry Grass

almost walked past it.
It was that fragile window between late afternoon and dusk — the golden hour — when everything the world usually ignores suddenly glows like it matters. I was low to the ground, practically lying in the field, camera pointed straight into a tangle of dry wild grass seed heads. The sun was sitting just behind them, barely peeking through — a tiny burning eye hidden inside nature's chaos.
The challenge? Everything was moving. The wind kept pushing the grass, blurring my frame the second I thought I had it. I must have taken forty shots chasing that one moment where the light locked perfectly between the stalks — warm, amber, alive — and the feathery tips caught fire against the haze.
I shot wide open, letting the background melt away. I wanted the viewer to feel like they were right there beside me — nose in the earth, world hushed, time slowing down.
And when I finally got it, I just lay there for a moment and breathed.
