Yesterday, I met someone who uses SVG images instead of png clip art. She is working with blind children. Different parts of the image can be labeled on SVG instead of a long global description. Spatial context for the image. 😍 this is W3C.

Last week @seth posted some of his thoughts on #w3cTPAC

"I had a lot of conversations with members via zoom and in person, in the hallways, during breaks and meals. While some concerns about our future and the future of the web were voiced, there is a clear expression of optimism across our community, and genuine commitment to making the web work for everyone."

Last month, we celebrated three decades of @w3c and the incredible global impact of its web standards.
In this talk, @tink reflects on the past 30 years, especially her many encounters with the W3C. She concludes that the true accomplishment isn't the standards and specifications, but the incredible people of the Web community she has had the privilege to work with.

@cdub kicked off the event by acknowledging the web's rapid growth in both power and challenges. With platforms like YouTube and social media, its infrastructure is under strain. However, addressing future challenges and ensuring the web works for everyone remains a shared responsibility.

#w3cTPAC axiom:
------
In any meetings, it will be very likely at a point, that there will be 3 to 4 ex-Opera (Presto time) people, now working for other companies.
------

Opera Browser (Presto time) has been essential for the Web standards world by driving the technical work and teaching to engineers to participate.

"Igalia Chats: TPAC 2024 " @igalia's @bkardell and @Meyerweb on #w3cTPAC:
"...the most valuable thing actually is that I think it's, you can call it the hallway track or also there's the dinner and drinks track where things there are just even whatever, they just come up and you have an opportunity to talk to people. Sometimes it's even people that you weren't even expecting to be in the conversation and really good stuff, really good stuff happens"

I had a great time at my first #W3CTPAC meeting members, spending time with my team, and celebrating the 30th anniversary of W3C! I'm already looking forward to the next one...

One of the many things that happened during #W3CTPAC last week was the election of the new @w3c Board of Directors, and I was returned to the Board for its second term - and then, to top it off, my fellow Directors appointed me Chair of the Board

#w3cTPAC is so many different things at the same time to me. First, it’s an intense week of work—it puts me temporarily in charge of an order of magnitude more people than usual.

But it’s also the one time each year I get to see so many colleages, some of whom have become dear friends.

We all come to @w3c because we believe the web is special and precious, but the web got that way precisely because of the dedicated people that make it that way, one day and one step at a time.
