I'm asking people generally, but also one of the communities I belong to, neurodivergent folk, autistics in particular.
In just a couple of weeks Wales will go to the polls to elect a new Senedd (Parliament).
I'm a member of a political party, so I've pretty much decided where my vote will go, and I'm open with that choice, and try to do what I can to help voters make the decision to vote for my party, but there'll be many people in many countries who know exactly who they'll vote for long before polling day, they'll never change their vote, and never tell anyone they're yet to make a decision who to vote for.
I wonder, does it really matter if candidates or parties even campaign?
Will they ever change your vote?
Millions of pounds/euros/dollars/rubbles/yen are spent trying to influence our vote with campaigning. How much does the campaign matter, cos they've never changed my vote in any election. I may change my party affiliation since last election, so that'll change my vote, but not because of any campaign. I don't think campaigns have done anything to motivate me to vote for someone if I wasn't already going to.
As an autistic person, I'm never sure if it's due to being autistic. I used to be so hyperfocused with special interests in politics & religion. That was years ago but politics & religion are still two of my most mentally consuming issues. (Not sure that made any sense but I'm pretty exhausted so please make allowances.) Take care. 🙂
