👻 Abandoned theme parks and funfairs from around the world. Does anyone else find these kinds of lost places extra creepy? Even with the bright colours and cheerful characters, these places always low-key give me the heebie-jeebies! Spooky vibes.

🇵🇹🍷 Exploring an abandoned winemaker's palace, Portugal - (Urban Exploration) Urbex

This late 19th-century quinta began as a large winemaking estate. It was later repurposed as a wedding venue before closing its doors approximately 20 years ago. Since then, the site has remained abandoned, decaying as the decades pass by.

The interior is quite beautiful, especially the former dining room. This space is bright with natural light, highlighting the decorative gold-gilded plasterwork ceiling and fascinating wall frescoes.

Detailed murals decorate the walls, including a large fountain scene above the fireplace and three panels on the opposite wall depicting town life. These illustrations transition from peaceful roadside and waterway views to a more dramatic scene of townsfolk fleeing a volcanic eruption.

Exploring an abandoned Victorian chapel, Wales 🕍 - (Urban Exploration) Urbex & Abandoned

This abandoned Welsh chapel stands near the edges of a lovely village in North Wales. It was built in the 1880s to serve the Calvinistic Methodist community. The building was designed by a Liverpool-born architect and constructed with a Classical facade.

Inside, there was space for 350 people on wooden pews spread over the lower floor and upper circle balcony.

The building operated for over 130 years, providing Welsh-language services and serving as a central point for the community.

The chapel closed down 10-12 years ago. Declining attendance and mounting repair costs forced closure of this once bustling hub.

It was subsequently sold, with plans filed for conversion into holiday apartments. Even years later, work hasn't started. The chapel faces an uncertain future, decaying more and more as the years and the inclement Welsh weather take their toll.

This beautiful abandoned church was most recently used as a nightclub after the final religious service decades earlier. The nightclub closed down around several years ago, and it has stood decaying and vacant ever since. Somewhere in Belgium.

Captured the haunting beauty of Prague’s Charles Bridge at dusk. This powerful statue group, bathed in the fading light, tells a story of faith and human struggle. The dramatic sky and glowing city lights add to the timeless atmosphere of this iconic location. A moment frozen in stone and light.

✈️ I am jetting off again, galavanting away on another adventure. I will be exploring lost places in east Germany over the long Easter weekend. May the Urbex Gods be kind. May all the bandos be open, and pray for security to be having a long nap 😉

Photo of an old MiG-19, one of the rarer Cold War models left today. This one was perched over some allotments somewhere in Georgia.

Talk about luck! Just yesterday I saw this fun bright yellow cube with round cutouts in the train yard scrapheap. I knew then that I wanted to go back and take some photos and today I had the perfect reason.

(see comments for photo from yesterday before I schlepped it into a better position for picture taking today)

The quiet rebellion of a bike in Berlin 🚲
There’s something about a bike left against a brick wall that tells a story. The way the light catches the chain, like the city itself is whispering secrets. Berlin has always been a place where small moments feel like big statements.
Spring in Berlin. The sound on the cobblestones, the hum of the city, the way history lingers in every corner. One of those spots that makes you want to slow down and really look.

No. 35 in my photo collection of signs of unique Spanish-language business names ending in –ería: BALCONERÍA

Balcón is "balcony" in Spanish, so a balconería can be translated literally as a balcony shop. But the word is more commonly used to represent a metalworking shop that produces and sells building components such as doors, windows, stairs, railings, and grates... as well as balconies.

💗💀Dusty old anatomical models are fascinating to find inside lost places. This old abandoned mountain school in Poland had a little collection inside. That eye on the desk was low-key creeping me out, though. Eyes kind of freak me out. Anyone else find eyes kinda...creepy? 👀

👻Ghost In The Machine. Despite being abandoned for nearly a decade, this old power plant control room in France was anything but silent.

A persistent, ominous humming still filled the air. A modern router blinked with green lights, sending data to unknown locations from this dead, decaying site.
