This is a snapshot I took back in January 2021 on a gorgeous winter day while hiking up in the mountains of Gran Canaria. Unfortunately, I didn't geotag it at the time, and while revisiting it today I can no longer remember where I took it. Oh dear, getting older, I guess, but thought folks would enjoy the green lush and the stunning views. I certainly did! 😍👍🏻

Ich liebe die Durchschreitung von Geröllfeldern und Schuttkaren.

Jeder Schritt muss sitzen und man muss stets damit rechnen, dass der nächste Stein oder Fels, auf den man tritt, dem Gewicht nicht standhält.
Es erinnert mich daran, dass ich bei Berg-Touren als Mensch sehr klein und den Naturgewalten komplett ausgesetzt bin. Demut und Respekt macht sich breit - man ist Gast in teils für den Menschen lebensfeindlichen, meist noch unberührten, alpinen Regionen.

Das Foto zeigt die weiten Geröllfeldausläufer beim nordseitigen Aufstieg auf die #Neyerscharte (2300m) im Rätikon in Österreich (August 2023).

Im Vordergrund und in der Bildmitte ist ein steiniges Schuttfeld mit einer aufsteigenden Wanderin mit Rucksack zu sehen, das in eine Art Talkessel ausläuft und am Ende von teils im Schatten liegenden, steilen Bergflanken abgegrenzt wird. Weiter links geht es immer grüner werdend weiter ins Tal hinunter.

There are many hiking spots in Gran Canaria that I love mostly because of the stunning views all year around. This one in particular is one of my favourites: The surroundings of Roque Bentayga in the late fall, early winter 😍👍🏻 One of the several majestic landmarks from the island, Roque Bentayga is quite an spectacular rock formation that watches over multiple valleys given you the impression you're no longer in an island, but higher up in the mountains somewhere in continental land. You can see different mountain range chains overlapping one another but what makes this snap shot rather special is that on a clear blue sky day you get to see in the horizon the sublime Mount Teide in Tenerife, which is just mind-blowing on its own! 🤯 Gosh, and look at all of that green lush floating around! A treat to all senses and beyond! 😍👍🏻 Enjoy the summer weekend everyone! 🙌🏻😎🙌🏻

On top of the world, indeed, at least, *my* world 😍👍🏻 I took this snap shot at the highest mountain top in the island, i.e. Pico de las Nieves, about 2,000 meters high, watching over multiple small villages down the "valley" like San Bartolome de Tirajana. It's an spectacular feast for the senses for those folks who are into some moderately intense hiking, best throughout the winter time, or early spring, at which time you can see wild daisies all over the place. The views over the rocks, as in this capture, are superb. A lovely reminder about how little we all are in the midst of all of that majestic beauty 🥰👍🏻

My kind of #SilentSunday. Plenty of peace and quiet hiking up in the mountains. This time around at Cruz Grande. With some of the most spectacular views of the highest mountain range from the island (Pozo de las Nieves), you can also see in this capture one of the other landmarks of Gran Canaria: Risco Blanco. Up front, a bunch of pine trees showing off their majestic pose watching over the entire landscape. Oooh, best time for this hike? In the winter, with a balmy 20C and gorgeous blue skies all around with the odd cloud here and there. What's not to love, right? 😍👍🏻

It's been a little while since I was last in the area of Barranco de Fataga, hiking up in the mountains, so thought I'd recover this snap shot I took from January 2017 in a gorgeous blue sky winter day with quite an exuberant lush of green surrounding a reservoir dam, lots of palm trees and quite some spectacular views with several mountains standing tall and majestic ahead of the hike 😍👍🏻
