This Day In History—
I bought this #PentaX KP (Body only) on September 9, 2018 and went to HENRY’S in downtown #Toronto to get a lens.
The lady at the counter asked what type of #Photography would I do? I said Cheap type.
So she suggested this used, dinged, scratched zoom… and I love it so🫀ever since.
Point of this post is I will dedicate the hashtag #ToMyLadyForMyCheapLens in honour going forward.

Lots of #Monarch #butterflies today in #Toronto. I went to the #allotment #garden and all of Marie Baldwin park was alive with butterflies. I took way too many photos of them.

Sometimes you have to hold the trigger down on the camera and hope for the best. That's how I got this shot of the #butterfly flying in the air. I wasn't even looking through the view finder. This works .01% of the time.

Toronto has lots of lovely flowers all over the city if you know where to find them
DeKay Brownsnake in Cedarvale Park from today. It was trying to warm itself on the gravel path.
"S. dekayi is a lover of urban areas and tends to frequent cities more often than the countryside. It can also be found in areas such as wetlands, grasslands, dunes, and forests, but it is most commonly encountered where humans are found. It prefers moist habitats. Although S. dekayi is solitary, aggregations of individuals have been observed." Wikipedia DeKay's brown snake

After six years of delay and a billion in cost-overruns, Toronto finally opened their newest transit line this year.
I had a chance to ride it in July and believe it or not ... it’s actually pretty good.

I rode VIA Rail’s Canadian 2,737 miles, from #Vancouver to #Toronto. It was like time travel: no wi-fi, very little cell service, 1950s rolling stock, and a soothing return to the lost art of conversation with strangers.

Starting September 1, TTC customers will benefit from a new fare capping program, receiving free rides after 47 paid trips in a month when using the same payment method. This initiative aims to make transit more affordable and accessible, without the need for a prepaid monthly pass. Current Youth, Adult, and Senior Monthly Passes will be discontinued, but some passes may still offer the best value for specific customers.
The TTC issues news releases and media advisories to local, national and international news media via e-mail. The public can also receive news from the TTC by registering with my TTC e-services.www.ttc.ca

I would really prefer to spend my day making more squash slings for the pumpkins and spaghetti squash that have annoyingly decided to climb the bean trellises, even though they produce 3lb+ fruits.
But no.
A bunch of fucking Nazis have decided they need to march through the city, and Toronto Police Service feels the need to facilitate that. 🤨

I biked down to #Biidaasige park to check out the new expansion.
This is the park I was thinking we should have had at Ontario Place, instead of the spa monstrosity.
It's really big. Lovely views westward now of the city skyline. And such a nice job sectioning the park into different "rooms" using hills and paths, and the meandering mouth of the Don river. I spent a good long while sitting by a marsh, watching fish and dragonflies.

I do not endorse demanding that the prime minister of #Canada do something or engaging with surveymonkey.ca in anyway, but I will say:
Hanlan's Point, the oldest #NudeBeach in #Toronto which has its origins in local manifestations of #Pride, is threatened by the #BillyBishop expansion project
And the way I see it, there is some potential for a pretty broad coalition here, which should probably include anarchists and nudists, especially if they can come up with interesting and/or useful ways to contribute

Waldbrände in Kanada: Toronto hat derzeit schlechteste Luftqualität weltweit

Up, at, and have already been bleated at by this baby raccoon.
Biidaasige is Toronto's newest park, the culmination of a ~$1.3 billion project, involving the city, provincial, and federal government, to reroute the mouth of the Don (one of the city's major rivers) to mitigate flooding in the Port Lands as they are redeveloped from an industrial wasteland into a neighbourhood. Some stories about it:

The City site describes the park's various features: toronto.ca/explore-enjoy/parks…
I've only passed through on the way to the Spit, but I need to go back soon for a proper visit! I want to try the zipline, climb the owl, and (of course) survey the arthropod fauna.
