#PhotoOfTheDay is what appears to be a homemade historical marker at the Gold Hill Hotel on the south side of Virginia City in Nevada. We stayed there while 4x4 trip back a bit after Y2K. For an old funky desert hotel they had a great restaurant.

1:14AM: Okay, so this Hawk Fire up on Peavine has gotten my attention. I'm still pretty safe. The fire is moving parallel to me and there is a major highway and a small river between me and the fire. But still... 🫤 I wonder how many homes have been lost? See all of the glowing embers above the active flames? Fortunately, that is up on the side of the mountain where there are no homes.

As seen from my house, a pyrocumulus cloud over the Hawk Fire on Peavine Mountain north of Reno, Nevada, earlier today. According to Zeke on The Lookout YouTube channel, the fire has gotten into Hidden Hills (Seneca Dr / Chippewa Ave) & has jumped US395 into an older part of Stead (Peppermint Dr). Homes are being lost. 😢
