Short time lapse of #lunareclipse covering the 20 minutes when my skies were reasonably clear (although still with hazy clouds). Noisy frames had reduced signal due to haze but are stretched to match brightness. 37 x 10 x 2 sec + 18 x 5 x 4 sec RGB in 300 mm lens at f/4. #astrophotography

A lovely, near-total, lunar eclipse graced our skies in the wee hours of August 28. About 96 percent of the lunar disk was covered at peak eclipse, enough to reveal the colors imparted by Earth's shadow, but just shy of being total coverage. At the moment of peak eclipse a bank of slowly passing clouds drifted in and so, at 12:15 AM local time, we recorded the event two minutes after! Single-frame, DSLR image via astronomical telescope.

Who needs a clear image of the lunar eclipse when you can have a blurry one photobombed by trees?😂
Tonight’s partial eclipse was obscured by the forest near my vacation place in Idaho when it reached its maximum, at 96% coverage. Still, I was able to get a few photos of it with Earth’s shadow receding, as Luna eventually cleared the trees. I’ll share those soon, but for now here’s my first two shots near peak eclipse. And now to bed.

The sky cleared enough for a bit of a peek at the lunar eclipse tonight.

Th best part of earth eclipsing the moon is the earth sunrises and sunsets painting the moon.
See the red on the moon here? That's our sunrise, earth's sunrise, painted onto the moon. Sunlight passes through our atmosphere and because pshysics looks red, to us in the morning, and onto the moon when we move in front of it.

Somewhere behind those impenetrable clouds is a spectacular #lunareclipse. The weather gods were not merciful today.
It wasn’t a total loss — it was lovely being the only person (crazy enough to be) on the pier at dawn, and I took some photos and got to learn my way around my smart telescope a little more. But this was my second serious attempt to capture an eclipse and the clouds foiled me both times. Hope I’m luckier for the next one in two years!

I briefly enjoyed the lunar eclipse this morning. A few minutes after entering Earth's shadow, the moon was covered by clouds. Shortly after that, the sunrise made the sky too bright to see the moon. By the time the moon left Earth's shadow, it was below the horizon.

A very full moon rises on March 2nd as the sun sets.
In about 9 hours the moon will be totally eclipsed.
For New Mexico maximum eclipse will be around 4:30AM, but totality lasts for about one hour. Set your alarm and think 'clear skies'.

🌕✨ Witnessing the magic of the universe!
I had the incredible opportunity to capture the September 2025 lunar eclipse right here in Kigali, Rwanda. The moon, glowing in shades of red and shadow, was absolutely breathtaking.
Shot with my Nikon D7200 paired with a Tamron 150-600mm lens, this moment reminds me just how small we are compared to the wonders above us. 🌌

Yesterdays lunar eclipse over #Frankfurt. It was quite cloudy, so I didn't get exactly the picture I imagined. But it was still really impressive when the moon was finally visible and I like the outcome.

The conditions were not ideal. Unfortunately, the clouds had obscured the moonrise and the end of the eclipse. But then, when I finally spotted it...
a beautiful natural spectacle that
literally „grounds me". We are diffusely thinking stardust orbiting a star on a rock with water and a fantastic biosphere orbiting a black hole in a galaxy....
Looking down on us from above, the astronauts and space cameras see no nations, no skin colour, no religion... we are all one. And we all have a common home

Went up to the Teltschikturm at the top of our valley, to get clear view of the eastern horizon as the eclipsed Moon rose 👀
In the event, it had to rise 5° before becoming visible above a line of murk, but then put on a nice show until the end of totality & into the partial phase 🌞🌍🌕
A great place to view the eclipse, although at least a 100 other people had the same idea & I wondered about the tower’s load capacity 😬✌️

On Sunday, 7 September 2025, a total lunareclipse will take place in the evening hours and can be observed for the most parts of Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
