You've probably seen kmscube before - but every screenshot of it is a milestone someone reached. Last night I hit one of those moments, after many years (again).

For the past months I shifted focus away from GLES3 to some foundation work that had to be done.

Also, it looks like NXP has picked up their Cadence HDMI/DP bridge/PHY driver upstreaming effort again, which is a great news as it's one of the biggest things we carry in the downstream #librem5 tree!

Linux 7.0 has now been tagged, coming with 19 commits upstreamed from the Librem 5 tree - two by NXP and the rest by yours truly on behalf of @purism. Three more are already queued for 7.1.

While the mainline kernel still can't drive the display without extra patches, it's very close now 👀

Yes, RAM limitations on #Librem5 is something I have to take into consideration always, but it is still possible to run multiple apps simultaneously. Zram compression is enabled which helps. I can run Signal while listening on Kasts and also do a web search in Firefox with a small number of tabs open with around 70% RAM used (see screenshots).

The Liberty Phone has 4GB RAM so you'll get better performance.

Can you program GPUs and do you want to become a HERO? #linuxphone
community needs your help.

We are trying record video, and have most pieces working, but one is
missing: fast enough debayering. That means about 23MB/sec on #librem5.

Debayering is not hard; camera images have subpixels split on two
lines, which need to be corrected. They also use different color
representation, but that's fixable by some table lookup and two matrix
multiplies.

Librem 5 has Vivante GPU, 4 in-order CPU cores and 3GB RAM. My feeling
is that it should be fast enough for that. If task is for some reason
impossible, that would be good to know, too.

Task is to turn that into usual rgbrgb.... format. rgb = RGB * color
matrix, with table lookups for better quality. I can fix that once I
get an example.

I'm looking for example code (#pinephone would work, too), reasons it
can not be done... and boosts if you have friends that can program
