Der Punkaharju ist ein schmaler Gesteinsrücken, der sich wie ein natürlicher Damm durch die finnische Seenlandschaft zieht. Seine markante Form entstand während der letzten Eiszeit, als Gletscher Sedimente auflagerten und nach dem Rückzug diese charakteristische Landform hinterließen. Der Damm verbindet zwei Seen miteinander und wurde bereits im 18. Jhd als strategisch wichtige Route erkannt; später entstand hier eine der ältesten Straßenverbindungen Finnlands.

Am Ufer des Torneträsk, südlich des Abisko-Nationalpark in Nordschweden. Die herbstliche Stimmung, das spiegelblanke, klare Wasser des riesigen Sees, ein ganz besonderes, klares Licht - hier herrscht eine sehr besondere Stimmung in diesem Moment der Stille.

This is where I grew up, early morning at Twin Lakes in Mammoth Lakes, California. It was quiet the air was cool, and a few people were already out fishing. A beautiful beautiful place to spend a morning. One of my favorite views from the Eastern Sierra.
