The foundation stone of St Philip & St James Anglican Church, Noarlunga, was laid by Bishop Short on 26 July 1850. The Rev. E.K. Miller served the Aldinga–Noarlunga–Willunga parish for 29 years without missing a service — his parishioners gifted him a buggy for the trouble. The church closed in 2019 and is now privately owned.

Built in 1841 by William Holly, the Golden Pheasant Inn stood on Gates Road in Hackham's original township — opposite Holly's own cottage.By 1873 it had lost its licence. William eventually sold up and returned to England, passing the property to his son Charles. The old inn fell into ruin and was later demolished.

Noarlunga's steam flour mill opened in 1843, cost £2,200, and ran day and night. It survived insolvency & an 1883 fire before closing in 1885. Later a brickworks, then workers' flats — now a private home.

📽️ The Grand, Southport. Now a beautiful restaurant and cocktail bar. I explored the site before the renovations, when it had stood abandoned for around 20 years.

Originally built as a 1920s vehicle showroom, it was transformed in the 1930s into a lavish cinema. It then operated as a bingo hall and later a casino, but this closed in the 2000s.

Daniel Easton and Caroline Maybank arrived in South Australia on May 12, 1840, aboard the "Eliza," settling near Morphett Vale. Among Easton's many contributions as a mason and bricklayer, “Easton's Barn” stands out as a remarkable feat of early construction.

Spanning 12 by 6 meters with an unsupported curved, riveted galvanized iron roof, the barn is still standing on Woodcroft Drive.

The Adelaide–Willunga railway was built in 1912 and opened in 1915. Morphett Vale station, near Wheatsheaf Road and the old Emu Winery, handled wine casks and was staffed until 1957. Passenger services ended that year, and goods trains ceased by the late 1960s. The line closed in 1969, was dismantled in 1972, and today forms part of the Coast to Vines Rail Trail.

Victory Road at Sellicks Beach once linked Noarlunga to the southern Fleurieu — following an ancient Kaurna track. Built in 1858 through John Norman’s persistence, it shaped travel across the peninsula and earned him a hotel in his name.

Prior to 1920, crushed limestone from the Reynella Quary was transported to the Brighton via horse-drawn carts. In 1921 a 6km long bi-cable aerial rope-way was built. This system was supported by 52 wooden trestles, some reaching heights of up to 21 meters, and had a daily capacity of 400 tons.
