What’s an album, band or artist that reminds you most of your childhood?

For me, it’s The Hollies. My dad always had their music on at the weekends.

Buying this one all these years later, I still know most of the tracks, but more importantly, they’re all incredibly written & recorded 🥰 good memories, good music 💿

No. 31 in my photo collection of signs of unique Spanish-language business names ending in –ería: TAPICERÍA

The Spanish word "tapiz" means "tapestry, wall-hanging, carpet" and closely related is the word "tapizado" which means "upholstery."

The word "tapicería" is a synonym of "tapizado" but in an expanded way, indicating not only the upholstery fabric itself, but also the art of upholstery and the shop where the upholsterer works and/or upholstery is sold, like this business in Lima.

Why isn't it spelled "tapizería"? Well, the short answer is that Spanish orthographic rules don't allow a Z to be followed by E or I, so the Z must change to a C, like it does in tapicería.

No. 29 in my photo collection of signs of unique Spanish-language business names ending in –ería: CRISTALERÍA

The Spanish word "cristal" is a general term meaning "glass" as in drinking glasses, tableware, and other decorative objects made of glass, as well as glass used in windows and doors. So a cristalería is a shop that makes or sells glass items or objects. However, there are regional differences. In some countries, cristalería usually means a shop that makes or cuts glass panes for windows/doors and mirrors, while in other regions, it could be a store where you can buy fine crystal glassware.

In this shop in Mexico City, they sold glassware (cups, bowls, etc.) and other kitchen gadgets.

No. 28 in my photo collection of signs of unique Spanish-language business names ending in –ería: ANTICUCHERÍA

Anticuchos are essentially grilled beef skewers, a dish that originated with the Incas and other pre-Columbian peoples of the Andes region in South America. Anticuchos remain a popular food item in the region today and can be purchased at food carts and in restaurants (anticucherías) across Chile, Peru, Bolivia, and Ecuador, like this one in Lima.

No. 27 in my photo collection of signs of unique Spanish-language business names ending in –ería: RONERÍA

The Spanish word for rum, the sweet liquor, is "ron" so here we have a bar that apparently specializes in rum drinks and has branded themselves as a ronería.

No. 26 in my photo collection of signs of unique Spanish-language business names ending in –ería: HOJALATERÍA

In Spanish, "hoja" means "sheet" and "lata" means "can" (the metal food container) or simply "tin", so "hojalata" is a compound of these two words to indicate tinplate or tin-plated steel, and a "hojalatero/a" is a tinsmith. So, "hojalatería" is a tinsmith's shop or, in contemporary usage, an auto body repair shop, like this one in Mexico City.

Why do we use the rule of thirds?

Placing your focal point(s) on these thirds – and especially on the intersection points – often creates a pleasing, balanced #design.

Research shows that a viewer’s eye is naturally drawn to the top left third first, the bottom left third next, then the top right, and lastly the bottom right. These intersections are the “power points” of an #image or design. - Teryani

No. 25 in my photo collection of signs of unique Spanish-language business names ending in –ería: BIZCOCHERÍA

The Spanish word "bizcocho" means slightly different things in different Spanish-speaking regions, but essentially it is a type of cake. In Spain, a bizcocho is a sponge cake, but in Latin American countries, it can be a type of cake, pastry, croissant, or cookie with a wide range of flavors and forms. In any case, a "bizcochería" is a shop that makes/sells bizcochos.

@LukefromDC #GraphicDesign on #Linux is a great choice!

Here's a little - and only partial - overview of what's in store for you:

kde.org/for/creators/

You already mentioned some of these, but decent results can also be achieved with much less, see e.g. mastodon.sdf.org/@jack/1148632…

Be aware that things like #CMYK support, although working quite well, might be less comfortable than what you're used to from other platforms.

Hey graphic designers of the Fediverse, I'm looking for a PDF viewer that lets me view color separations for print PDFs on Windows (to double-check my spot colors). 📄🔍

Preferably one-time purchase or FOSS (happy to donate), no subscription models.

Do you have a favorite that you would recommend?

Illustrations for the fable - „Pan kotek był chory...” by Stanisław Jachowicz.

Yarn is often associated with cat play. In my project, I used yarn to represent the inner emotions of the title cat. As the story progresses, the yarn, buttons, tools and text change along with it.
