My first finished object for the #FinishOrFrogAlong
Well, I still need to iron interfacing to the back, zigzag the edges (roughly where the basted rectangle is) and sew the patch onto my denim jacket, but the embroidery part is done! 😅
I also discovered that my vintage metal hoop is rubbing off its paint, so there's a blue circle around her. 🙃

I've been wanting to try and needle felt a highland cow for ages but this visit to friends in Aberdeen was the perfect opportunity. I knew they'd appreciate a handmade gift even if it turned out slightly wonky, which it definitely did.
But it's also very cute, and I had a lot of fun making it! Maybe I'll grab some better photos before we leave but also maybe I'll forget so this one might have to do.

One of the projects from the mixed up pile of floss last #WIPWednesday is officially back in action for this one.
This is Beachfront Home by @infinitybear and I've been working on it on and off for what seems like years at this point, every time I pick it up I remember how much bigger than expected it is! Today saw some progress on the sky, while binge watching driving mock test videos 🙈
Determined to get this one done. It is officially on the #FinishOrFrogAlong list and that's final.
Obviously this is going to take me way longer than a month, but for the purpose of #FinishOrFrogAlong the jumper will finish by the end of the month or else!!

Friends, a Jarre Equinoxe Jumper update:
I’ve finished 23 rounds of the yoke pattern, with 6 left.
Once that’s done, it’s all downhill from there as this has been made from the bottom up, so just the neck will be left 👍
For reference, the yoke is based on Jarre’s Equinoxe album. My son designed the yoke pattern for me, and I think he did a cracking job.
Idea is to wear this next month for his concert in Amsterdam!
Lack of inspiration. The projects that remain unfinished the longest are the ones that need some kind of embellishment that I haven't yet figured out in my head yet. Like the vest I'm making that needs more embroidery. I've got it sort of on my head what I want, but not detailed enough yet to start on it. It'll come to me in time but not quite yet. And there's a few more like that: slightly blurry pictures in my head that need to get clearer before I can finish then.

My #finishorfrogalong update is that I finished nothing. I did have to frog a whole dragon I put in the wrong spot on my Dragon Dreams by Haunted Frames. Cross stitch is not for the faint of heart. #crossstitch
i only just realised that i another wip tucked away somewhere. 2 socks on@a 2 mm circular needle in dark green/black. That one plus the cardigan are 2 #knitting piece i do not particularly enjoy. I’ll have to think what I want to do with them…
But since the adopt-2-new-cats failed 😞 i don’t have to worry about the cats anymore. Only our own cat but he will be fine again in time.

Just got back from bicycle touring holiday, so I guess I have to get started. Found another WIP on my desk. Unfinished second sock of handspun yarn. That will be nice to finish. And the last yarn for the colorwork sweater I had already spun before leaving, so just plying to do. Feeling optimistic for now.

Yesterday, I started on a friend's WIP. Her husband wanted a pair of hand knit socks. I think he has been waiting for 3 years now. She frogged them again this past summer, so I offered to make them for her. Yesterday, I cast on her husband's socks, for what I hope is the last time. Not sure what her problem was, but they are working for me. Does it count if it isn't your WIP?

#FinishOrFrogAlong has inspired me to gather all my yarn and WIPs into one cabinet. That's it so far. I'm overwhelmed with other things in my life (last month of work, taking over dog walking due to husband's elbow injury).
I frogged my knitting project but I've not done much else for #FinishOrFrogAlong. I've been busy with work and preparing for an upcoming holiday so I've not had much craft time. I'm hoping this will change once the holiday starts 😀
I'll be taking along my cross-stitch project and hopefully start on my filet crochet project. Neither will be complete but they have been on hold for a while so it will be good to get them going again.

First "finish" for the #FinishOrFrogAlong!
Ok it's not a fully finished project, but for me the finishalong this year is about getting back into the crafting groove so my goal for this one was just "finish the sleeves".
It's kind of a project of two halves since this much has been by the pattern, but the rest of the body will require custom maths. So happy to call part 1 finished and move onto something else, and if you think that shouldn't count then ner!

I generally use project bags for individual yarn WIPs, which then get piled up in a large work basket. If I'm knitting from a cone, that can sit in the basket with its project nestled around it.
I can easily grab individual projects or the whole basket, depending what I'm doing.

I knit and my end bits as well as upcoming projects are in those plastic drawer units. I have three of them.
If I can restrain myself, I try to only buy yarn when I have a pattern I want to make and then I store the yarn and pattern together in the same drawer.. Of course things change over time.

Tote bags, mostly, and I keep my focus WIP in my shoulder bag.
I actually just cleared an end table so I could put all my WIPs there in a burlap reusable grocery bag. So now they're all accessible from the couch. #FinishOrFrogAlong

How do you store your WIPs?
I keep my knitting in a flimsy bag (needles, yarn, printed pattern and a little bag for tools as darning needle, scissors, stich markers etc) and at home the bag is in a basket.
The sewing is all over the place near the sewing machine.
Wool combs and wool are taking up a rather large area of my desk.
The rest is hidden away in a large cabinet.
most of my WIPs live on a neat pile next to the couch, within easy reach. The boring-meeting-project (currently the merino mending) lives next to my work laptop. I should really sew up some nice project bags. Also, the fabric stash and pile of sewing patterns could use some work (currently a slightly wobbly pile of cardboard boxes and totes filled with scraps).

My knitting is stored in zippered cloth pouchs of assorted sizes. I think my love of bag making started with knitting project bags.
Of course, my sewing is therefore stored in plastic ziplock bags. 😄
Knitting or crochet get stored in a project bag or caddy. I have a variety (it's not a problem I swear) and can always find something nice.
Sewing projects I have a few clear slim plastic totes (IRIS Project Case). Mostly a sewing project once I start actually on the machine I go through to the end. But sometimes I'll cut a few projects at once so the pieces will get stored in a tote til it's time.
Embroidery/cross stitch in the clear tote too.
I'm in the process of moving all my yarn and projects into a glass-fronted cabinet that used to hold miscellaneous kitchen crap (most of which we gave away). It'll at least remind me that I have all these things (vs. the many opaque bags shoved into a corner). #FinishOrFrogAlong
The plethora of WIPs in project bags are currently partly in a closet on a shelf, and partly in a gigantic bag in a pile of stuff with my fiber stash. not very organized, if i am honest. I still refuse to think of it as a pile of shame. It’s a pile of unbridled optimism and eternal hope! I swear!

My knitting WIPs are stored in individual project bags. I have changed the type of bag over time - I used to have lots of bags with inside pockets for notions etc. Now I am leaning more towards little sacks, which I then am easily able to tuck into a bigger bag (eg re:designed project or a purse) to take on the go. Projects that need multiple skeins of yarn usually have the “on deck” yarn stored separate because why carry it everywhere. #knitting #FinishOrFrogAlong #FoFAQandA (1/?)

My oldest WIP is this St Aula fair isle hoodie from Jade Starmore (about 6 yrs). I loved it the first time I saw it, waited a long time to buy it, finally got it, knit the body, steeked, started one sleeve, and now I’m stalled on Sleeve Island. For a few years. But I’m committed. They don’t sell this pattern anymore even so I hope I never lose it or that my photos of the pattern get me through. Working on this is not in my #FinishOrFrogAlong goals for this year. #knitting #fiberArts #TextileArts

I'm on Rav for my knitting and crochet projects and always desperately wish that there was something as all inclusive as that for sewing.
I've debated Notion, Obsidian, etc etc thru the years to track it all in one place. But I'm so hesitant these days to put my trust in another app.
I'm moving more and more offline these days. I do have a spreadsheet of fabric, but I track my sewing projects in a traveler's notebook with fabric swatches, etc.
The planned projects... each one has a project page on my personal wiki. At the minimum, it has a description. But most of them have more than that. This may include:
* database reports on the supplies/yarn to be used for it
* design plans, and/or links to pattern(s)
* descriptions or step-by-step info on prototypes (and how they failed)
The spontaneous "I wanna do this right now" projects have nothing. They may acquire a project bag in due course.
For projects which require multiple counts to be kept track of, I use an Android app, BeeCount (written by @knirirr here on masto)

for a long time, I'd just scribble on patterns and pieces of paper, then in diaries or random notebooks. Meaning I could never find those notes again. I finally bound a notebook that meets my needs, and now in addition to making notes on patterns when using, anything else goes into that one notebook. This is especially useful when not working with a pattern, because I have proven over and over again that I do not, in fact, remember....

Um, I scribble all over my printed out pattern. Now that I no longer print out my patterns, I no longer scribble on my pattern, so I guess I don't do anything to track my WiPs. I'm on ravelry

I do use ravelry, but hardly for tracking my projects' status. I use it more for inspiration and searching for patterns to fit some yarn I have.

I have nothing good to track all the open stuff. The 'culprit project' sits in a box with its buttons and pattern - out of reach, out of thought. found it by chance some time ago after years

I keep a running project list in a text file on my laptop, and re-save it in January so I have a record of what I've done every year and what I still plan to do.
I haven't used Ravelry regularly since it became a headache machine. I occasionally look up patterns there when I can't find good ones elsewhere, but I sure as hell don't keep my records there.

I use Ravelry (I'm one of the early adopters, haha) to keep track of projects, queue, and stash. I like how everything is linked together there, and being able to look at other people's work and notes. And I've sold a few patterns of my own through Rav, too 😀

I store all my patterns in GoodNotes. The primary reason for that is how easy it is to find things there. GoodNotes lets me put everything in folders of my choice -- but, most importantly, has excellent search of PDFs and handwriting. So as long as I kind of vaguely remember a word that might appear in a pattern, I can find it. And, I can edit / scribble / add notes to patterns easily.

My primary tracking is done in a database I created in Notion -- it actually tracks fairly closely with tables Ravelry has (fiber companies, yarns, stash, patterns, WIPs / finished projects) but allows me the flexibility to track differently as well. I also track my fiber stash + spinning projects in Notion, and I don't have those in Rav at all. - finish knitting a toddler jumper
- spin a whole bunch of worsted (I really do not enjoy spinning worsted, but as it's for a Gansey vest it has to be done... if I don't do it with the support of fofa it just won't happen)
- finish a toile
- finish weaving a band and a table runner (optional)
- also do a whole lot of drawing and painting (incl on wallpaper)
- if there's time, cast on and progress some knitted toys and gifts

Knitting and quilting are hobbies for me, so whenever I'm in a creative mood, or buy yarn or fabric to support a small business, I start something new with it. When I'm in a tidying mood, I grab some partially done work and finish it. In the meantime, I have a huge queue of sweaters, socks, blankets, and scarves for my extended family that I'm working through constantly. #FinishOrFrogAlong
If it was up to me (it's not spoons and hand arthrosis want a say, so do knitting lessons) I'd go 1 project at a time. As it is I drag on with the rainbow shawl, which is purl and u wrap and hence simple but since it's massive in size it takes so long to finish each row, do simple u or e wrap walker grip covers in pain waves at night and since people want to start on holiday gifts when I tutor I alternate between a sock sample and swatches in different stitches #FinishOrFrogAlong

Hi! New crocheter here, started ~6 months ago. Haven't heard of #FinishOrFrogAlong before, but I'll try to join in. Actually finished one project today, so I'm down to only one WIP 😁
Here's the finished hat I just made for my daughter. The yarn has reflective thread spun into it, so hopefully it will make her extra visible in the dark winters here in Denmark. Recipe is from a Harry Potter themed crocheting book. (It's a bit subtle but Hermione wears a similar hat in one of the films. Without the reflective thread 😅)
Since I started following #finishorFrogAlong my number of WIPs have gone steadily down. That's a win for me.
Theoretically I like to have projects that require a different amount of mental effort - easy stockinette, difficult stitch pattern, colorwork - for various situations. And then different sizes as well, easily portable (like a sock) versus a blanket or something large that is a stay at home. BUT in reality my WIP list is longer because projects hit stages and I put them down and then get inspired by something else and don't get back to the old ones for a while.
