A #SpookySaturday #Caturday from #Skopje
We were in Skopje in 2016 while the Colourful Revolution was ongoing. The city centre was kind of bonkers in that it looked like a Las Vegas version of itself. Lots of new marble and HUGE monuments. There were fences around the government buildings and the oversized, garish monuments were covered in vivid paint splashes. It was quite the spectacle.

The only part of the image that isn't mine is the astronaut. Because well, I don't know any astronauts. The stars were taken from my living room window in Italy and the rocks are from outside Dad's house in Ireland. All editing was done while swearing profusely. ✨

This was so much work! 😂 (To any proper editors this it probably 10 minutes max though)
So, I had this door and I didn't know what to do with it. I took it this summer at the Roman Amphitheatre in Bologna (this is part of the building surrounding it so technically it also fits #fotovorschlag and also #doorsday)
Anyway, point is, I was inspired by "The Hands Resist Him" which is one of my favourite paintings but I wanted the hands to come out of the door.

This time it started with a pretty bad photo of the stairs from the front of Villa Spada and then I asked myself "What would happen if we added more stairs?" - so that's what happened! 😂 It's not completely symmetrical but it's close enough for me! The stars you see in the centre are from a bad astrophotography attempt a few months ago! ✨

Walking through the quiet museum, you see a new exhibit. A kneeling statue of a woman, hands clasped in prayer, face carved with unbearable grief.
There is no plaque on it.
You overheard the guards earlier talking about hearing whispers and soft weeping echoing through the halls this past week… It is a museum though – there's always a ghost story knocking about.
But it is strange. There was no mention of getting a new exhibit and it seemingly appeared overnight.
After inspecting the new statue, you turn to leave. You hear a faint giggle in the air.
"Is someone here?"
Nothing. Another giggle – louder this time.
"Who are you?"
The statue’s eyes open.
"Who you are about to be." - she whispers.
The statue’s hands unclasp. ✨

When I was in a hotel a week ago I decided to take pictures of the interior with a #liminalspace aesthetic in mind. I gave it a warmer cast than what is usually associated with liminal stuff but to me it still invokes a feeling of eeriness.
