S. vulgatum announcing the final two weeks of this season. This species usually is the the only dragonfly to either appear a second time in my area during a given year, engaging in its final mating period in September where most odonata already have ended or are close to ending their respective season, or exclusively during early autumn. It tends to prefer woody areas and only tends to leave the outskirts of the forest during mating periods.
