Dawn and sunrise this morning, Mar 15th, from Buck Hill!
My first sunrise on the hill in nearly two months. The deep snow kept me from both my usual parking spot and from hiking. I did make a couple of snow treks up the hill, but I did not have the proper gear for the conditions. If one looks closely at the first photo one can see a waning crescent moon.

Als ich heute wieder um viertel vor fünf aufwachte und in der Ferne eine Amsel singen hörte, beschloss ich aufzustehen und dem Gesang näher zu kommen. Ich setzte mich aufs Fahrrad, fuhr Richtung Mond und landete am See, in leichtem Frühnebel und hörte Amseln, Rotkehlchen, Singdrosseln, Graureiher und noch einige andere.
Es war so kalt, dass mir die Knips-Hand fast abfror. Aber das musste sein.

Somewhere behind those impenetrable clouds is a spectacular #lunareclipse. The weather gods were not merciful today.
It wasn’t a total loss — it was lovely being the only person (crazy enough to be) on the pier at dawn, and I took some photos and got to learn my way around my smart telescope a little more. But this was my second serious attempt to capture an eclipse and the clouds foiled me both times. Hope I’m luckier for the next one in two years!
