In this week's crafting blog post I finished cross stitching Nathnolu's Cozy Nest pattern.
What could be cuter than a cross stitch project showing a little raven sitting on a cozy chair and knitting a sock, while wearing a knitted hat?

We are at Day 7 of #FinishOrFrogAlong! Hope ya’ll are all having fun. I’m enjoying the polls and Q&A and seeing what you are posting about making progress, finishing, or getting rid of projects that are weighing you down.
Today’s Q&A is: how are you doing? Personally, craftily, whatever you want to tell us, we are here for it.

What’s your typical (or preferred) way of working through a project? Go with the answer that resonates with you the most even if you sometimes do other things.
Comment with - why do you like working that way? When or why do you make exceptions?
- Straight through, minimal detours (40%, 6 votes)
- Some side quests / other crafts or projects (33%, 5 votes)
- Take pauses or breaks, sometimes long ones (26%, 4 votes)
- Something else (please comment) (0%, 0 votes)
Today’s #FinishOrFrogAlong Q&A!
How do you store your WIPs?
Physical storage and organization of projects is a real challenge. Some of you have already said you keep projects out where they can be seen - others referred to their Pile of Shame (or Pile of Undying Hope) or labeled project bags. Plus different crafts call for different solutions. What works for you?

Is there an accepted meaning for how the terms "knitwise" and "purlwise" apply when slipping stitches BACK from the right needle to the left needle? or any other standard terms for referring to the direction and twist of stitches when moving from the right to the left?

Today’s #FinishOrFrogAlong Q&A: What do you use, if anything, to keep track of your WIPs? Notebook, project tags, software, knitCompanion, Ravelry, something else? Why or why not?

Finished project time: simple linen shirt.
It's so simple it's barely even a shirt, it's possibly almost, a cardigan?? No collar, no cuffs, no shaping. The nice fabric does all the work really.
A short process 🧵 anyway
Looking for accessible/adaptive knitting methods/devices for colorwork and tension! I have hEDS and my body CANNOT physically relax enough to get good, consistent knitting tension. The #1 tip people say, "relax," is not possible for my body without enough muscle relaxers to kill me.
So, are there any good assistive devices for this? Has a clever disabled knitter come up with a better way to do this yet? I've tried knitting thimbles and they just make it worse for me.

NJ made this drawing->wood creation during school, in a shot designated as unstructured time, but with materials available to make/do whatever with.
And it's awesome.
It's out of her imagination, made by her own hands, and reuses bits of wood that have already fallen from trees.
And there's no screen, or agents, or digital "assistant".
We must not lose our ability to imagine and create.
AI is not the future. Innovative human creatives are. We can all be those.
Here's a finished #sewing project I forgot to post from a couple of months ago: storage pockets for the cupboard in my hallway!
It's quite a shallow cupboard with coat hooks. I wanted somewhere to keep small things like gloves and keys, but without taking up too much volume with big shelves or drawers. So I came up with this simple design of open-topped pockets in different sizes, on a back panel which screws onto the wall.
My latest finished project: a lined waterproof bag!
I designed the pattern myself. I wanted it to be easily convertible between wearing over a shoulder, and around my waist like a bum bag. So the strap extends out from the sides instead of the top corners, and has a belt buckle for easy length adjustment.
The main body is just one big sections that opens at the top of the front. And there are two pockets on the front as well. All with double-ended zips.
#LawnPoetry update: after considering many great ideas about materials, I'm using 2" white faux wood slats because a kind stranger from craigslist offered to drop off his old window blinds for free.

What do all of you use to keep track of your materials? Skewing towards electrical engineering, there seems to be binner ( binner.io/ ). Then there are numerous ways to keep track of 3d printing filament (Spoolman, Filaman, Plastock (abandoned?), 3dfilamentprofiles).
But what else is there? Is anyone keeping track of their other #crafting/#making materials somehow? What do you use?

Fabric people, how do you store and organise samples? At the moment mine are a random pile stuffed into a zip folder and I am not satisfied.
What I REALLY want is a searchable filterable digitised database which cross-references to indexed entries in something like a ring binder... but I'm not sure I am willing to put in the effort required to create (and most importantly maintain) such a system.

I'm bad at surprises... I really want to share a reveal with you but another part of my brain is going "show. the. thing. now. they. deserve. to. see. pretty. thingy"
So here is a pic of it, not sure about the sorting order. There are 72 pockets for thread plus 6 wider ones (scissors, needles, pieces of cloth...)

So besides the roses 👆🏽 that kid2 made (those were easier and quicker apparently), she wanted to try and make (yellow and white) ipê flowers that grow in Brazil where one of the profs/performers is from. She looked up pics and made some. Turned out nice!
Then she made a bunch of others - and put together in 5 bunches/bouquets to take to the performance today and give out.
#Art #PaperCraft #Flowers #Crafting
Been a while since Kid2 worked on any paper #FlowerArt
She started back up a day ago to get ready for a weekend classical music concert by profs at the univ she went to for a summer workshop. She wants to have small bunches for the performers.
Here - the roses are all done!
(Can't wait to see how the other flowers will turn out)
More #FlowerArt by kid2. Too cold in the basement so just a small area in her room that's the workspace. Saw her yesterday making lots of these tiny paper cuts on a small strip of yellow paper - turns out they were for the middle.
#Art #PaperCrafts #Crafting ( #Bloomscrolling ?)
Sort of #Bloomscrolling I suppose, I'm admiring and taking great joy in these paper flowers that Kid2 crafted in free time and evenings last week.
Worked hard on this! I'm told for the carnation, each petal was individually markered on the top to get the coloration right (see pic 3)
