I can run LineageOS and download #CoMaps from f-droid. But if I want to link it to my car screen, I have to use Android Auto and I have to have downloaded CoMaps from the Play Store.

First world problem, but they do try really hard to lock you in to their shitty ecosystem.

Aber wie starte ich denn eine gespeicherte Route, um damit einen vorgegebenen Wanderweg zu gehen? Angezeigt wird die Route ja. Nur wie starte ich dann die Navigation damit?

Nachdem mir Geschäftsgebaren, Community und diverse andere Aspekte wichtig sind, schrumpft die Zahl sehr stark - aber es gibt sie

Ich benutze seit Jahren #osmand und bin damit durch diverse Länder gereist. Zentraleuropa, D-A-CH, Italien, Frankreich, Tschechien sind bei mir immer installiert und die Datenqualität der Karten ist @openstreetmap typisch sehr gut.
Andere Karten installieren ich mir vor der Reise immer vor und bin nie enttäuscht worden.
Routenführung verläuft problemlos, Sprachansagen ebenso, ohne dass man externe TTS Software installieren muss. Das war bei mir leider bei #comaps bzw #organicmaps ein Problem und hat unter #lineageos, zumindest auf meinem Telefon, nie funktioniert.

Just wondering why there is no way to stop downloading maps on Linux.

Erroneously double-clicked the top most 'countries' and now I need to download, what 90GB maps, only to delete them again. 🤦

Or is the cancel button hidden somewhere?

Frage an die #Fahrradbubble
Ich suche eine Routing App in der ich z.b. einstellen kann dass Ampeln vermieden werden sollen und das mit 5 Minuten länger egal sind, wenn die Strecke schön ist und solche Dinge.
Gibt es da was?
Ich habe bisher nicht so wirklich was gefunden.

#organicMaps und #comaps machen meist besser Routen, aber ich kann nicht viel einstellen.
Es darf was kosten aber kein Abo (und kein Konto, wenn es geht)

@CoMaps I'm curious about the place names used to identify map download areas in CoMaps.

For Ireland as shown in the screenshot, Dublin, Cork, and Galway are all reasonable choices. But other places listed such as Durrow and Swinford are rather small. And for Ulster, all 3 locations are quite close together in Donegal, giving no hint that Cavan and Monaghan are included.

I suppose there is some kind of automated label generation but I don't know what the algorithm could be!

Was ich irgendwie nicht verstehe, weshalb #CoMaps immer die App updaten muss, wenn es neue Kartendaten gibt.
Kann da nicht einfach die API entsprechend angepasst werden, dass die neusten Daten heruntergeladen werden können, ohne jedesmal die App updaten zu müssen?

@CoMaps Suddenly I have a problem with CoMaps only showing my real location, now in eastern Finland, for a short period of time, and then hopping to a place in Stockholm. Other apps show correct location. I've tried everything, including uninstalling the app and installing it again, but the problem persists.
I'm on eOS, which may be relevant, but I've checked all location settings I can think of.

Are there any alternatives to Google Maps (preferably open source) for Android that will let me adjust a recommended route for navigation, like Google Maps does?

In the web desktop version of Google Maps, if I set a start location and a destination, it gives me a recommended route. I can then grab the blue line that represents the recommended route to adjust it.

This is insanely helpful as no apps pick the best route for cycling on the Swedish countryside. This feature would allow me to plan my trips ahead and not fiddle with my phone when I’m out cycling (which would be wonderful).

If there are no Android solutions, what is the easiest way to create a route (GPX?) with a desktop Linux FOSS app that can later be used on my phone?
