Helsinki officially opens Finland’s longest bridge.

Finland’s longest and highest bridge, Helsinki’s new Kruunuvuori Bridge, officially opened to the public on Saturday.

It links Kruunuvuorenranta in the eastern suburb of Laajasalo with central Helsinki.

The nearly 1200-metre long bridge is said to be the longest bridge in the world that exclusively serves pedestrians, cyclists and trams.

In the summer the water level is a meter or two below this abandoned bridge. In lower places the water is already starting to lap over the road. Residents are moving their stuff to higher ground.

Yesterday I said I wish there was a trick-taking #cardgame vibing the skill and competitive feel of #Scout or #Startups.

I just want to make it clear that I'm well aware #Bridge exists. My grandfather was a pro player competing in the national tournaments back in the day. But, my point is it doesn't fit the gameplay i'm looking for, for 4 reasons:

1. partner mode only.
2. partner code play.
3. bidding is the win condition.
4. 1v2 open hand 'trick-taking' (little real impact on winning).

It seemed like, to them, that if there were no need to be a hurry, well then, there was no need to be in a hurry.

They found it a rather workable and pleasant way to approach life, and they decided to explore where such a way of thinking would take them.
