In November 2025, Infrastructure Victoria released Victoria’s infrastructure strategy 2025–2055. One key recommendation was to invest in 12 cycling corridors in Melbourne and a network of cycle corridors in Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo and Wangaratta over the next 10 years.
The one in our area is the Anzac Station to Sandringham route. This would be a massive enabler--- would allow people from a big catchment in the south-east to access the St Kilda Rd bike lanes and the CBD beyond.

Bike news, for anyone keeping up with my #Rivendell savings: I have changed my bike goals!
After much thought and (so) many YouTube videos, I'm choosing to save for a #Brompton electric G-Line, instead. Yeah, this model is actually more expensive than the Riv. But it's SO much better for my situation as a person with chronic health issues. I can ride out from home (with the assist that helps me so much already on my current e-bike) and if I need a ride back, I could easily fold it and step on a bus or into an Uber. This scenario has happened several times so it's a real concern, not a theoretical.
I can also take it into stores and appts. with me (the very real risk of a Riv getting stolen has become increasingly stressful over the last few months).
I had a Brommie years ago, and it's one of the few things I've truly regretted selling. So the normal-bike-to-Brompton adjustment won't be an issue, I've done that already.

This morning began with an NL Alert.
Mobile phones across the country made a horrible noise and woke everyone up at 6:30.
We're too high to flood, so it was either nuclear war, or (more likely) the horrible weather that we were expecting.
It was a Code Red alarm and the weather was worse than had been predicted. No-one was supposed to venture outdoors even walking until at least 14:00 because it was so lethally slippery absolutely everywhere. It was clear even from looking through the window that anywhere that ice could settle was like a skating rink.
This afternoon after the alert was over I packed some parcels, put a bit of salt and grit on some remaining ice on our own driveway, and cycled to the post office. I shouldn't have bothered: they were shut.
Oh well. These customers will have to wait until tomorrow.

Today's temperature was a high of 18F, but that didn't stop what I estimate to be thousands of cyclists from participating in a multi-hour bike ride through south Minneapolis.

A4: I run an Absolute Black non-round chainring on my #singlespeed mountain bike, and I'm able to turn a harder gear than I could with a round ring. It definitely helps me on climbs. And it's fun to watch people's 🤯 when they realize that chain tension remains constant with a non-round chainring.

Just entered my first Audax UK Brevet of the year, seems like an impossible task at the moment given everything in my life but if I don’t enter definitely it won’t be possible!
One of the nice things about Audax UK events is if you enter and don’t start you don’t lose too much money and the organiser gets a little donation.

Nice little ride out this morning with friends but I am covered in road spray
Bicycled in -13.33 C weather yesterday. Wind was so cold and felt it through my layers. Forgot I wasn't wearing my warming socks, too. If I'd had the right socks and the wind hadn't been so cold I'd have been fine. In Alabama, -7.77 C was my limit. I've found my limit here depends on the wind and if the sun is out. Having to adapt, in good conditions, -17.77 C is my limit. But there aren't always good conditions.
