💁🏻‍♀️ TIL: 🧠📈 A #study of over 11,000 British #twins tracked cognitive test scores from age 4 to 21.

Only 1% of children scoring in the top tier at age 7 still scored high at 16, while just 8% of average-scoring #kids climbed into the top range. Genetic and family-education factors predicted stability most strongly, suggesting early gifted labels are an unreliable guide to #adult ability.

💁🏻‍♀️ TIL: 🧠🗣️ A 2025 #MIT #study found that invented #languages like #Esperanto and #Klingon activate the same #brain networks as natural languages.

Scientists trace these from childhood Pig Latin to trade-born pidgins and lab-grown mini-languages in #psycholinguistics #research. Programming languages, despite their clear rules, do not trigger these networks because they express no meaning about the world.

💁🏻‍♀️ TIL: 🐶🧠 Researchers at #Mexico’s National Autonomous University trained eight pet #dogs to lie awake in #fMRI scanners while viewing human faces.

#Brain scans showed anger, fear, and sadness activated different regions, though dogs did not distinguish anger from sadness. The #study suggests dogs process some expressions as distinct categories rather than simply positive or negative.

💁🏻‍♀️ TIL: A recent #study surveyed 448 people across Chinese, Dutch, and Greek cultural groups to map where and why #humans feel ticklish.

More than 95% had experienced or performed tickling, and armpits, feet, abdomen, and sides of the torso were consistently cited as the most ticklish spots across all #cultures. Enjoyment declined with age, and the findings support #Darwin’s idea that less frequently touched areas are more ticklish.

A #cosmorama was a gallery of #paintings viewed through a magnifying lens, giving the illusion of depth and depth of field. Artists hand-painted bird’s-eye views of each listing, offering buyers an early “virtual tour” more than a century before the #internet.

Good Morning. Beige be with you :bb:

Today is a big day. It is the last full day of my degree. Hand in is midday tomorrow!

I have 500 words left to write, then this afternoon I am going to go over the essay I finished last week.

I am quite emotional about being so close to finishing. It has been over 5 years since I started this degree and in that time the worst times of my life have happened. I have also been diagnosed with ADHD and autism in this time.

This is the 3rd time I have attempted to get a degree and the fact I am now so close, at the age of 49, is huge for me!

So please, if you see this, cheer me on today and send me words of encouragement!

EDIT: I have finished the work. I will be hitting send first thing in the morning once I have slept on it.
