A single lotus flower, the last one, in a pond inside a Japanese shrine, where no tourist usually visits.

"Why did you come here?" The staff asked us in Japanese. They didn't understand why we came so far away to visit some off the grid shrine.

"Because it's calm and quite" I replied.

Kyoto is beautiful and has so much to offer. You just need to listen.

While biking around Sun Moon Lake in Taiwan, I came across a family of Formosan rock macaques. 🥹

Having voted, here’s 3 confessions…

1. I’ve drank English Breakfast tea in the afternoon.

2. Sometimes I use nonsense words so Evie Cat doesn’t know what I’m saying (in my defense, she does it, too).

3. Yes, I lost control and created the pi symbol on the mountain.

Be everwell.

Yesterday - while looking for complementary colors - this hummingbird hawk-moth was also showed interest for the salvia flowers - a perfect fit for #makromittwoch.
I think no.1, with the white flower is visually more appealing, but no.2, with the red flower is technically better (precise focus on the eye). What do you think?

Out hiking and came across these beautiful Alpine ibex! 🐐⛰️

Photographed with my trusty Nikon D3300 and my faithful 55-200mm lens (300mm full-frame equivalent).

Shot at ISO 800, with some slight image noise cleaned up using AI-powered denoising in Darktable. All images were captured in RAW and edited to bring out the details.

I'm realy fascinated by what we can get out of the RAW files from a 12-year-old entry-level DSLR with today's image processing tools.

As a reward for putting up with all my book promotion, please feast your eyes upon this smörgåsbord of Tasmanian 'dragon' springtails!

These outrageous creatures are related to the New Zealand giant springtails that I've been utterly obsessed with for the past three years. I'm so pleased that I got the opportunity to visit Hobart at the weekend to go on a dragon hunt!

That's not all I saw, however: I'll be adding more photos very soon, including fluffy mites and Tasmanian velvet worms 😮
