We had another #mantis visitor last week! This is the first brown one I've spotted. I saw my first one ever at my parents' place last year, and now they're everywhere here (an hour north of them). 😅 The survivor I posted two weeks ago came back for another photo session on the drive (put it in the wildflower plot afterwards), then I saw a crushed one on our street, and found one drowned in a pot of water I'd forgotten in the garden. 🙈
This one spent the whole day at eye level on a white wall by our drive, and I managed to take a few photos.

Green Sweat Bee
I love these tiny, zippy, iridescent metallic green bugs, but they don't like to linger long. They aren't very populous were I live, so seeing one pause long enough for a clear shot was a very nice surprise. I imagine that as the summer ends, there is less pollen left, and they may have to stay a bit longer to collect a meal.

All macro shots in situ. Canon macro EF 100 ml, Godox flash with diffuser- still had to set it to 400 iso #macro #macrophotography #bloomscrolling #insect #bee #sweatbee #arthropod #nature #closeup #naturephotography #wildlife #wildlifepotography #wildlifeplanet #insekt

Look what we found in the garden yesterday! It was missing two legs and an antenna, so to keep it out of harm's way, we placed it in the lavender, where it started to groom its legs

Heute habe ich eine Wespenart gesehen, die mir bis dahin unbekannt war. Eine Amerikanische Mörtelwespe flog und krabbelte im Grün umher, wohl auf Futtersuche nach Spinnen. Faszinierend zu beobachten!

Today I saw a species of wasp that I hadn’t come across before. An American mason wasp was flying and crawling about in the foliage, presumably hunting for spiders. It was fascinating to watch!

Your very own Luck Dragon, the Salt Marsh Moth. Hop onto its delightful mane and ride into a Neverending Story…

In the second picture I believe that’s a clutch of eggs at the bottom. I didn’t really notice it when I shot this. I revisited it and will post a better picture of just that sometime in the coming days. Also this moth has an orange abdomen but you have to pester the moth to get it to show, so I didn’t do that.
