"#KeshetUK, the #UK’s #Jewish #LGBT+ education and training charity, has announced a new partnership with #Switchboard, the national #LGBTQIA+ helpline, to deliver specialist training and guidance on inclusion to all Switchboard volunteers.

Every year, Switchboard handles around 15,000-30,000 calls messages and emails. According to the 2021 UK census there are approximately 9,600 LGBT+ #Jews in #England and #Wales.

Through this new partnership, KeshetUK will build on Switchboard’s existing training, enhancing volunteer confidence and ensuring they can continue to provide informed, inclusive support to callers who identify as both Jewish and LGBT+."

Exploring a creepy abandoned children's amusement park that closed half a decade ago. South England

A colourful children's amusement park that has stood abandoned for a half-decade. Somewhere in southern England.

The park opened in the 1970s and was first owned and operated by a husband and wife team. The husband spent countless hours in his garden shed handcrafting the rides himself. He used old truck axles and timber to create a magical world that bright smiles to generations of children and adults alike.

For almost four decades, the park was a success. It included traditional attractions such as swing boats, a helter-skelter, merry-go-rounds, trampolines, and even a miniature train ride.

Eventually they passed ownership to their sons, who kept the park alive for a decade after the handover. Unfortunately, repeated arson attacks and vandalism marked the end of the park. The sons shut it down, unable to repair the damage and keep the park open.

Today, the site is derelict, with the rides sun-faded and neglected as the years pass. A sad conclusion to a beautiful dream that now resembles a post-apocalyptic scene.

🏥 Exploring RAF Nocton Hall, England. Part 1 - Surgery Wing

Join me as I explore the abandoned RAF Norton Hall base in Lincolnshire England. This episode documents my favourite area, the surgery and operating theatre area.

Corridor walls retain painted navigation lines used for wayfinding; the top stripe is blue, indicating the route. A concrete lintel stands above the entrance, featuring the word SURGERY painted in yellow letters on a blue background.

Inside the surgical wing, daylight enters the decaying corridor through large circular skylights cut into the ceiling. One room has the remains of an X-ray viewing lightbox on the wall. A room next door has the twisted remains of curtain rails, suggesting a recovery or pre-op ward.

The military built RAF Norton Hall during the 1930s to serve as a training and medical base. The site expanded during World War Two to support the war effort. The Ministry of Defence closed the facility in the late 1990s.

Summary

- The record for the UK's hottest May day has been broken, with temperatures reaching 34.8C in Kew Gardens in London

- In England, amber heat health alerts are in place for many areas until Wednesday, while in Sussex and Kent, South East Water says "very high demand" has led to supply interruptions

- With the hot weather set to continue into Tuesday, here's some advice on how to stay cool and sleep in the heat, plus the health risks to be aware of"

After years of campaigning, #England & #Wales have officially decriminalised #abortion for women as part of proposed changes to the Crime and Policing Bill.

The government has now formally done away with the ancient Offences Against the Person Act from 1861 and the Infant Life (Preservation) Act of 1929, both of which saw women and girls open to arrest, investigation or prosecution in relation to procuring an abortion for themselves.
