I just published the code of the first prototype of Diapasonix, a bass-like synth and MIDI controller I'm developing.
It uses the fabuolous AMY synth engine and runs on a Raspberry Pi Pico 2. Loads of presets and effects!

Diese Funksteckdose klackt zwar noch beim Schalten, der angeschlossene Verbraucher wird aber nicht mehr abgeschaltet. Das Relais ist verklebt und wird ersetzt. Funksteckdose wieder sinnvoll nutzbar!

This wireless socket still clicks when switched, but the connected device is no longer switched off. The relay is stuck and will be replaced. The wireless socket can now be used again!

I'm really hoping for Fediverse help here.

I have a 14 year old niece. She's incredibly smart and extremely motivated when it comes to engineering things.

I want to get her some electronics stuff, like an Arduino kit, but maybe something with wearables, etc. to make it more relevant to her than just a breadboard.

She'll also need some books on electronics, since she doesn't have the background in that.

Sadly, some limitations:

- I can't help her. Her mother won't let my wife or I talk to her. This gift itself will have to be given through a third party.

- She has a learning disability around reading- likely dyslexia, and so we need material that's easy to read

- Her English is not amazing, especially because of the learning disability.

So I'm looking for a kit with a ton of instructional material. Programming, electronics, breadboard, the whole kit and kaboodle.

If you have ideas, please share, and boost!

TIL that as power supplies age, their output voltage can drift. Case in point: my router's power supply outputting 26V... where it's rated for 12!

Fortunately the switch works with a brand new power supply (I'm not brave enough to try fixing the faulty one)

Is this photograph was taken less than 15 minutes ago to portray the heat sink which has now been installed on the Broadcom Wi-Fi integrated circuit

In a passive set up the heat sink does not do much, the temperature drops just with a couple of degrees and the order of two to 3° C

The Broadcom Wi-Fi Integrated Circuit in the Raspberry Pi5, proves something that we have known from the ATX PSU {power supply units} for years. When such a system is powered off significant parts of it are still drawing current.

In my experimentations with the system I had powered it off after having run the SBC without active cooling. The Raspberry Pi Is A robust system that can run without any active cooling. The temperature difference is on such a level that is totally within the tolerances of the System. Over here it operates @ 60+° C. The idle temperature is of course lower.

With a soft power off, the Broadcom Wi-Fi IC still remains warm to the touch, even after a couple of hours. This is also the IC which receives an Al cooling block when you buy a official Raspberry Pi case for your SBC

This temperature is a warning for you not to mess with components that need a total power down when you need to work on the machine.

As far as I'm concerned, proficiency with soldering is a prerequisite for rabbit ownership. Otherwise you're going to be buying a lot of power cables.

Raspberry Pie imager. If you barely know how to move in a graphic user interface you will still be able to make the image.

As long as I make sure that the clients that I want to run on the Raspberry Pi5 don't need anything more than what Wayland can offer in the graphics environment, everything runs smoothly

This setup is achievable if I get a PCI Express extender for the SBC and put in a PCI Express Graphics Processing Unit.

At this point in time the SBC only has two GPU outputs one to center IPS LED panel the other two displays are driven by other machines which of course have Dual display outputs running.

Now I need to check which project I will run as the first one. I'm thinking of a simple flip flop circuit, with discrete components and then with the Raspberry Pi as the controller and the Crystal oscillator, all from the GPIO

This is what happens when you introduce a big pump (even only running at 30-50%!)

You find out REALLY fast where the low points are. I had suspicions. They have been confirmed, and temporarily rectified!

the pump is now running, hooked into the pipe to the bottom of the filter (I will cut more of it off in time so the pipe is running along the ground), plus the garden hose is continuing to add more water to the system.

No spillage! Ill fill the intake bay and then turn the garden hose off to just let it circulate.

alright. emptied the pump bay (watering the hazelnut tree as I go) so I could get down into the box and loosely fit the hose onto the pump.

Now we'll turn the water back on in the filter and let the bay fill back up again from the little diversion stream.

I need to go get a couple big hoseclamps to properly secure it to the pump. But loose is fine for testing.

First test of the pump! Just turned the first pump on to make sure everything works. The regulator works! 100% power seems to draw about 160W. 50% was around 70W. Can't take a reliable picture of the display unfortunately.

I will have to cut the main wire and extend it with a good extension cord so it can reach where I need it to. At least to the little grey shed for now. The controller has to stay dry and in reasonable temperatures.

Not really looking forward to that job. I have cut/spliced/shrinkwrapped wire before but not on a $600 pump. 😬

Today though I will concentrate on hooking up the pipe to the filter to set up a circulation and figure out a temporary situation for the pump controller.

edit: btw the pumps are both Jecod 20,000L/hr varieties. I am hoping (and calculated) that they are oversized so I can run them at 50-75% most of the time.
