As More Filipinos Visit Vietnam, Philippines Attracts Less Vietnamese Tourists

In 2025, more than 480,000 Filipinos visited Vietnam while the Philippines failed to attract a significant number of Vietnam tourists which reflected its weakness with foreign visitors, according to a new report by VnExpress.

The travel platform Agoda confirmed that online search by Filipino users for accommodation in Vietnam surged 86% in 2025. Vietnam itself achieved an all-time high of 21.2 million foreign tourists who arrived in 2025. The Philippines attracted only 5.94 foreign tourists last year.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the news report of VnExpress. Some parts in boldface…

Vietnam is increasingly emerging as a preferred destination for Philippine travelers, welcoming over 482,000 arrivals in 2025, thanks to ASEAN visa exemption policies and closer bilateral exchanges.

According to the Tourism Information Center under the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT), since the Covid pandemic, the number of Filipino visitors to Vietnam has recovered and grown impressively. Filipino tourists are particularly fond of destinations such as Da Nang, Sa Pa, Phu Quoc and Nha Trang, as well as Vietnam’s distinctive cuisine.

VNAT Director Nguyen Trung Khanh said Vietnam and the Philippines share many similarities in tourism resources, natural conditions and culture. Both are located in Southeast Asia and have favorable conditions for cooperation in developing tourism products and attracting visitors.

The expansion of direct flight routes between major cities by airlines of both countries has also significantly contributed to boosting tourist arrivals.

Conversely, the number of Vietnamese tourists traveling to the Philippines remains unstable and has even shown a declining trend recently. This is partly due to increasing competition among destinations in the region.

Philippine Ambassador to Vietnam Francisco Noel R. Fernandez III noted that Philippine airlines are actively implementing various initiatives to attract tourists. The Philippines is also considering establishing a tourism representative office in Vietnam to strengthen its presence and promote cooperation.

Tourism cooperation between the two countries was established early on and continues to be reinforced. In 2026, the Philippines will host the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) under the rotational mechanism, with Vietnam’s tourism sector actively participating in the event.

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: What is your reaction to this development? If you are a citizen of the Philippines, have you thought about touring Vietnam recently? Do you think the government of the Philippines has not done enough to promote itself actively to the Vietnamese?

A Lot More Filipinos Searched For Accommodations In Vietnam In 2025

While the Philippines continues to endure difficulties on attracting foreign tourists (click here and here), statistics of the global travel platform Agoda revealed that a lot more Filipinos searched online for accommodations in Vietnam, according to a travel article by VnExpress.

It is recalled that Vietnam itself achieved an all-time high of 21.2 million foreign tourist arrivals counted in 2025 and among them are more Filipino visitors. Already operating are direct flights between Manila and Ho Chi Minh City.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the travel article of VnExpress. Some parts in boldface…

Travelers from the Philippines showed the strongest interest in visiting Vietnam in 2025, with accommodation searches rising 86% year-on-year, according to travel platform Agoda.

The trend was consistent with official tourism data. The number of Filipino visitors to Vietnam reached 482,173 in 2025, up 81.3% from 2024, according to the General Statistics Office.

Air connectivity between the two countries has also improved, with several carriers launching new direct routes.

In July last year, Philippine Airlines began operating a Manila-Da Nang service with three flights a week. A month later, Vietjet opened the Ho Chi Minh City-Manila route, offering five round-trip flights per week.

“Growing international interest suggests Vietnam is consolidating its position as a leading regional destination, benefiting from improved connectivity, visa policies and diversified travel experiences,” said Vu Ngoc Lam, country director at Agoda Vietnam.

Vietnam welcomed a record 21.2 million international visitors in 2025, up 20.4% from the previous year and the highest total on record.

Let me end this post by asking you readers: What is your reaction to this recent development? Do you think a lot more Filipinos will visit Vietnam this year as the direct flights continue? What is it about Vietnam that captures the interests of foreign travelers? If you have been to Vietnam as a tourist, how much did you spend per day there?

Singapore Leads Southeast Asia in Tourism Development

Singapore emerged as the best among the economies of Southeast Asia in the 2026 Travel and Tourism Development Index of the World Economic Forum (WEF), according to a news report of VnExpress. Globally, Singapore ranked 13^th in a field of 110 economies.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the news report of VnExpress. Some parts in boldface…

Singapore ranked 13th among 110 economies in the World Economic Forum’s 2026 Travel and Tourism Development Index, the highest position among ASEAN.

The city state scored 4.89 points, up 3.4 percentage points from 2024 in the biennial ranking released on Friday by the World Economic Forum, an international advocacy non-governmental organization and think tank based in Switzerland.

Indonesia ranked at 23rd, followed by Malaysia at 26th, Thailand at 38th, Vietnam at 52nd, the Philippines at 57th, and Laos at 75th.

The index measures factors and policies that enable sustainable and resilient development of tourism like business environment, safety and health conditions, price competitiveness, air transport infrastructure, ground and port infrastructure, tourist services and infrastructure, natural resources, and cultural resources.

Singapore received high scores in business environment, safety and security, travel policy and enabling conditions, and infrastructure and services.

Singapore, the second largest economy in Southeast Asia after Indonesia by nominal GDP, is known for its strict laws and low crime rates. It has earned (its) reputation as one of the safest countries in Asia.

The city-state is ramping up investment in large-scale tourism infrastructure as it seeks to strengthen its position as a leading travel and business hub in Asia.

The government announced a S$740 million (US$584 million) tourism funding package, more than twice the S$300 million allocated under the Tourism Development Fund in 2024, in May to strengthen industry resilience until 2040.

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: What is your reaction to this development? Have you visited Singapore over the past twelve months? Do you think Singapore can keep innovating and improving itself on tourism development?

You may answer in the comments below. If you prefer to answer privately, you may do so by sending me a direct message online.

**Nude Beach in Bulgaria: A Practical Guide to Naturist Travel**
What to know about unofficial Black Sea naturist spots, clothing-optional etiquette, access, facilities and local expectations.
By Travel Begins at 40 Editor, 3 October 2026
A nude beach in Bulgaria is usually an unofficial, clothing-optional stretch of the Black Sea coast rather than a clearly signposted resort area, so arrive informed, discreet and respectful.
Are There Nude Beaches in Bulgaria?
Yes, but not in the formal sense travellers may know from France, Spain or Croatia. Bulgaria’s naturist scene is mostly based on tolerated sections of beach, often at the wilder ends of bays, away from organised sunbeds, family resort zones and busy promenades.
You may see “nude beach” marked on online maps, but on the ground it may simply be a quieter stretch where naturists have gathered over time. The Black Sea coast ranges from large resorts such as Golden Sands and Sunny Beach to remote coves, forests and river mouths, so expectations vary from place to place.
Are Nude Beaches Legal in Bulgaria?
Bulgaria does not have a strongly established system of officially designated public naturist beaches. It is safer to think in terms of local tolerance rather than guaranteed legal status. Public nudity can be sensitive in the wrong place, particularly on family beaches, near beach bars or in towns.
Before using any nude beach in Bulgaria, look for signs, observe what others are doing and ask accommodation hosts or local beach users if unsure. Municipal rules and beach management arrangements can affect what is accepted. Check current local guidance before travelling, especially if planning around a specific beach.
Best Nude Beaches in Bulgaria: What to Expect
Because the scene is mostly unofficial, a “best nude beaches in Bulgaria” list should be treated as a starting point, not a guarantee. Names often associated with naturist or clothing-optional use include Irakli, Pasha Dere near Varna, and quieter areas around the southern Black Sea coast, including near Sozopol, Primorsko and Sinemorets. Verify locally rather than relying only on old online comments.
Irakli is one of the better-known wild beaches, appreciated by independent travellers seeking a quieter natural setting. Pasha Dere also appears in naturist discussions, though access can be more awkward than at resort beaches. Around resort towns, the clothing-optional area may be at the far end of a beach rather than in the serviced centre...

**You can let it all hang loose at Birmingham’s only nudist spa all day for just £25**
From hot tubs and cold plunge pools to 24/7 dining, this is what it’s really like inside Birmingham’s only clothing-optional hotel, offering luxury spa days.
By Charlie Case, October 2, 2026
You’re watching reruns of Channel 4’s ‘Four in a Bed’ when a Birmingham hotel catches your interest. This isn’t your average hotel. This is Clover Spa & Hotel. A clothes-free retreat on Chester Road, where you can let all hang out—from the bedroom to the café to the sauna.
In ancient Rome, nudity was common at the public baths, while naked Scandinavian-style steam baths remain popular throughout Europe. It’s the most natural thing in the world, but the British are often prudish about stripping off. But why not make a change and strip off in a welcoming environment?
At Birmingham’s only naturist spa, enjoy full use of the facilities—including the sauna, steam, and hot tub, as well as a range of massages and facial treatments. You can even grab a bite to eat at the 24/7 café bar, unwind in the garden, and sleep over in one of seven en-suite bedrooms at this former Victorian residence,
Why strip-off?
Spa day benefits are many, from easing muscle and joint pain to reducing high-stress levels and improving cardiovascular health. But Clover Spa & Hotel claim that you can’t “get the full benefit” at other spas because of swimwear, for the same reason you don’t wear your cossie in the bath. But really, it’s a confidence booster—feel more comfortable in your own skin!
How much is it?...

Vietnam Attracts All-Time High 21.2 Million Foreign Tourist Arrivals In 2025

Vietnam, a nation ravaged by war decades ago, has emerged as a major tourism magnet in both Southeast Asia and Asia as a whole after successfully attracting more than twenty-one million foreign tourists in 2025, according to a VnExpress International news report. The figure is a new all-time high. What Vietnam achieved was more than 20% higher than its 2024 foreign tourist numbers. For 2026, Vietnam is aiming high with a target of 25 million foreign visitors.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the news report VnExpress. Some parts in boldface…

Vietnam welcomed a record number of foreign tourists in 2025 with 21.2 million, up 20.4% from the previous year and the highest ever, according to General Statistics Office.

Mainland China was Vietnam’s biggest source of visitors last year with 5.2 million arrivals, up 41% year-on-year, followed by South Korea with 4.3 million and Taiwan with 1.23 million.

The U.S. ranked fourth with 848,000, followed by Japan with 814,000. The rest of the top 10 were India (746,000), Russia (689,000), Cambodia (687,000), Malaysia (573,000) and Australia (548,000).

Tourism industry insiders attributed Vietnam’s strong performance to visa reforms.

In March the government decided to extend visa exemptions until 2028 for citizens of 12 countries: Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Norway, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, and the U.K.

In August it waived visa requirements for stays of up to 45 days for citizens of 12 more countries: Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Hungary, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Switzerland.

This expanded the unilateral visa waiver list to 24 countries and the total number including bilateral waivers to 39.

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: What is your reaction to this development? Considering the strong international tourism momentum it has right now, do you think Vietnam will succeed in attracting 25 million foreign tourists this year? Do you think a lot more visitors from Europe will come to Vietnam this year?

**Nudist cruises with AIDA & Co.: Only one itinerary offers a genuine nude experience**
Separate nude areas with hot tubs are rare on cruise ships. AIDA has recently scaled back this facility on several of its ships.
By Noëlle Bölling, 02 October 2026
Nudist areas on cruise ships are considered much more relaxed and allow holidaymakers to achieve a streak-free tan. However, anyone looking for designated decks for nude sunbathing on German cruises is often disappointed: The ‘Mein Schiff’ fleet no longer has sun decks for nudists, whilst AIDA Cruises is significantly reducing the size of these areas across its entire ‘Sphinx’ class. Some ships, however, still offer a nudist area with privacy screens, its own shower and a hot tub.
Nudism on MSC, Costa and ‘Mein Schiff’: these cruises prohibit nude sunbathing
The abbreviation FKK stands for ‘Freikörperkultur’ (free-body culture) and refers to communal nudity without any sexual connotations. Europe is regarded as the centre for naturist holidays: one of the best-known destinations is Cap d’Agde in the south of France. There are also several naturist resorts on the North Sea and Baltic Sea coasts.
On cruise ships, however, this practice is rather unpopular. Most major cruise lines, such as MSC Cruises and Costa Cruises, do not have nudist areas; the German cruise line TUI Cruises abolished them on its ‘Mein Schiff’ fleet a few years ago. Although AIDA offers nudist sun decks on all its ships, these are increasingly subject to restrictions...
(SPOILER: The “AIDAprima” and “AIDAperla” continue to offer spacious nudist areas.)

**People We Meet: Pete Sferra doesn’t care what you wear — or don’t**
Castro nudist says he likes to “blend in” to the neighborhood
By Christina Baris, September 27, 2026
Pete Sferra was wearing a baseball cap, thick tortoiseshell glasses, a bandana and sneakers when I met him at Jane Warner Plaza on the corner of Castro and Market.
Sferra, now 71, has been a nudist for more than 50 years, and has been hanging out at the plaza for nearly a decade with about a dozen other unclothed “regulars.” But it wasn’t his clothing (or lack thereof) that drew me to him. He just seemed like an interesting guy.
Unsurprisingly, Sferra is no stranger to attention, and he has frequently voiced his defense of nudity to the media, earning special notice when, unclothed, he helped a tourist being attacked in the Castro.
Tourists and locals alike often approach Sferra when he’s sitting bare in the plaza. Some want photos, some ask questions, some are shocked or critical, and some simply thank Sferra for preserving the city’s idiosyncratic culture. Sferra enjoys the company, but said he doesn’t do this to stand out.
“ I like blending in,” Sferra said. “Frankly, I could spend a whole day just hanging out and nobody would even notice me. That works for me.”...

Vietnam Declared Asia’s Leading Destination of 2026

With its booming tourism industry and the economic gains it has achieved so far, Vietnam was named as Asia’s leading destination during the 2026 World Travel Awards beating the likes of regional rivals Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, according to a VnExpress news report. In fact, this is not the first time Vietnam achieved this particular honor and there were other awards won as well.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the news report of VnExpress. Some parts in boldface…

Vietnam has been named Asia’s leading destination at this year’s World Travel Awards, adding another tourism accolade to the country’s growing reputation.

It beat regional tourism hubs including Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia to retain the title for a sixth consecutive year.

A series of popular tourism hubs in Vietnam were also honored at different categories, the World Travel Awards Asia & Oceania organizers announced at a gala ceremony on Sunday.

Vietnam’s southern metropolis overtook Singapore, China’s Shanghai and Hong Kong to become “Asia’s leading business travel destination.”

Hanoi was named “Asia’s leading city break destination” while Tam Chuc Complex in the northern province of Ha Nam, around one hour and (30-minute) drive from the capital, was voted “Asia’s leading cultural tourist attraction.”

Ta Xua, one of the highest mountain peaks in Vietnam at over 2,800 m above sea level, was voted “Asia’s leading emerging tourism destination” for the first time. It has a cool climate all year round and is known as a cloud hunting destination from October to April.

Northern highlands town Moc Chau was named “Asia’s leading regional nature destination.” Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park in central Vietnam was voted “Asia’s leading national park.”

The 900-square-kilometer national park, which UNESCO recognized as a global heritage site in 2003, is home to over 300 caves and grottoes that date back some 400 million years, including the world’s largest Son Doong.

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: What is your reaction to this development? Do you think Vietnam and its tourist sites deserved the tourism awards it received this year? Have you toured Vietnam extensively this year? What is the most astonishing tourism destination you have visited there in Vietnam? Do you think Vietnam still has a long way to go to solve its tourism labor shortage?

Tourism Labor Shortage in Vietnam

As more foreign tourists keep arriving in Vietnam, some questions about the future of the nation’s tourism industry are being raised as a tourism labor shortage has been realized, according to a news article by VnExpress.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the news article of VnExpress. Some parts in boldface…

Vietnam’s tourism industry is racing ahead, with international arrivals hitting new highs, but the sector is facing a growing shortage of skilled workers, from hotel staff and chefs to foreign-language guides and senior managers.

The third most visited country in Southeast Asia after Malaysia and Thailand welcomed nearly 16 million international visitors in the first eight months of 2026, up 14.4% year-on-year, driving up demand across hotels, travel companies, transport, restaurants and tourist attractions.

A 2026 survey by Hoteljob.vn found that nearly 90% of tourism businesses planned to recruit.

In Ho Chi Minh City alone, 89.7% of businesses were hiring, while 71.8% said recruitment was difficult or very difficult. The biggest shortages were among frontline workers, particularly in housekeeping, engineering, food service, front-office operations, and kitchens.

The Politburo’s Resolution dated Aug. 22, along with the government’s action programme adopted on Sept. 7, set the target for tourism to directly contribute 10-12% of GDP by 2030, attracting 45-50 million international visitors and generate total revenue of US$80-90 billion.

Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang are envisioned as major tourism growth hubs, while Phu Quoc emerges as a new hub. These targets will place greater demands on the tourism workforce, not only in terms of numbers but also skills, from frontline workers and foreign-language guides to managers, technology specialists and professionals delivering high-end services.

Ho Chi Minh City’s tourism sector, for example, is facing gaps in supervisory and management positions, as businesses seek staff capable of operating in an increasingly digitalized, international and competitive environment.

Foreign-language tour guides are another weak link. Demand is rising rapidly from markets such as Russia and India, while arrivals from Europe and the Middle East are also increasing. Yet training guides with the language skills and cultural knowledge needed to serve these markets can take years.

The labor crunch is even more acute in destinations far from major urban centers.

In Con Dao, hotels and resorts regularly struggle to recruit receptionists, housekeepers, chefs, and service staff, while travel companies face shortages of sales, marketing, and tour guide staff.

Higher salaries have done little to solve the problem. The island’s high cost of living and distance from the mainland make it difficult to attract and retain skilled workers, with many leaving after only a few months.

According to Hoteljob.vn, 79.5% of tourism businesses have raised salaries or improved benefits over the past year. Yet 59.2% cited lower incomes compared with other industries as a key reason young people leave the profession, while limited career prospects were another major factor.

Experts say Vietnam’s tourism labor shortage is not simply about training more people.

The bigger challenge is narrowing the gap between what schools teach and what employers need. Nearly 80% of businesses surveyed said fewer than 20% of young applicants could start work immediately, while more than 84% said new recruits needed at least a month before they could work independently.

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: What is your reaction to this development? Do you think Vietnam should open its doors and bring in trained tourism workers from overseas to solve their tourism labor shortage?

Indonesia Attracts 15.39 Million Foreign Visitors In 2025

Indonesia, the 2^nd largest economy of Southeast Asia, successfully attracted 15.39 million foreign visitors in 2025 and it is already looking forward to attracting even more this year, according to a news report by VnExpress.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the news report of VnExpress. Some parts in boldface…

Indonesia, the largest economy in Southeast Asia, welcomed 15.39 million foreign visitors in 2025, exceeding its target of 14-15 million arrivals.

“We have exceeded our target and performed better than our previous projections,” Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana said at a meeting in Jakarta on Wednesday, as quoted by Antara News Agency.

Government figures show that average spending per foreign visitor reached US$1,267 in 2025, surpassing the target of $1,220.

Malaysia remained the biggest contributor to Indonesia’s tourism revenue, while the United Arab Emirates posted the fastest growth in visitor numbers.

Arrivals from China rose sharply, reaching 1.34 million in 2025, the highest level in six years, according to Xinhua News Agency. The data indicates that travel from China to Indonesia has not only recovered but has also exceeded pre-pandemic levels.

By doing the math of the numbers revealed in the above news report, US$1,267 multiplied with 15.39 foreign tourists is equal to roughly US$19.5 billion in foreign tourism revenue. That is a huge economic boost for Indonesia.

**10 places to get naked in Arizona in 2026**
September 27, 2026
Do people really run naked through the Arizona desert? Believe it or not, they do. Hundreds of brave souls will run wild when the Bare Buns Desert Run returns Oct. 17 at Shangri La Ranch in New River. Billed as Arizona’s only nude run, the 5K race winds through desert trails, a dry wash and the ranch property. Clothing is optional, but tennis shoes are highly encouraged — along with avoiding any cactus along the race route. But if running is not your thing — or if you just want to avoid the flop factor that must come with running naked — there are other options to feel the freedom of going naked in Arizona in 2026 … without getting yourself in trouble (see legal guidelines below).
Arizona doesn’t have official nude beaches, but it has a long tradition of clothing-optional spots — mostly private resorts and remote BLM and National Forest land where nude use is tolerated.
While the only way to stay 10% safe in to keep your clothes on in public, here are 10 of the lowest-risk options to get naked in Arizona in 2026, listed in alphabetical order:...

"'Interantur' was founded in 1987, and they previously collaborated with 'Ulcinj Riviera'. They haven't been here for more than ten years, but we managed to regain their trust," said Mila.
By Samir Adrovic, 21.09.2026
A group of about forty tourists from the Netherlands arrived on Saturday at the nudist resort on Ada as part of a newly established cooperation between the management of the "Ulcinj Riviera" and the well-known European tour operator "Internatur", which has not been present in this region for more than ten years.
He confirmed this to "Vijesti". Armand Mila, director of “Ulcinj Riviera”, which manages the nudist resort.
"'Interantur' was founded in 1987, and they previously collaborated with 'Ulcinj Riviera'. They haven't been here for more than ten years, but we managed to regain their trust," said Mila.
He emphasized that the group will stay on Ada until September 30th.
"This is an overture to the continuation of, I believe, successful cooperation. That is why we have prepared a full package for these guests, from a boat ride to visits to the Old Town, Lake Šas, Shkodra and Kotor," said Mila.
At the same time, the nudist resort is recording significantly better results than last year. Mila confirmed that the resort has so far recorded a 22 percent increase in turnover, not counting around 250 thousand euros from tourist agencies and other income.
"We believe that by the end of the season, or by October 15th when we close the gates, we will achieve a result that is 24-25 percent better than last year," said Mila...

**‘Nude before traffic’: cyclists riding without clothes to demand safe infrastructure**
The World Naked Bike Ride, active in more than 200 cities around the world, began in the Spanish city of Zaragoza more than 20 years ago
By Celia Fernández, SEP 25, 2026
A distinctly picturesque scene took place last summer in Westminster, London. As on every second Saturday in June, horses, carriages and soldiers escorted King Charles III and Queen Camilla in a ceremonial procession that passed through Wellington Arch. Waiting among the crowd were the day’s other protagonists: a group of nude cyclists who several hours later took over from the royal procession, riding down the flag-lined avenue on their bikes. The event was inspired by protests that began more than 20 years ago in Zaragoza, Spain.
The London edition of the World Naked Bike Ride — the international protest movement that organizes naked cycling events in more than 200 cities — is one of the largest in Europe, and this year it brought together 1,000 people. “Besides promoting a healthy lifestyle, it may be the most fun experience you can have on two wheels,” the organizers say. The number of demonstrators in the English city is, however, tiny compared with the world’s largest, in Portland, Oregon, where some editions have reached 10,000 participants and it is one of the city’s best-known events...

**Blaze destroys 2 mobile homes, car at Poconos nudist resort, fire chief says**
By pholzmann, Sep 25, 2026
A late-night fire Thursday tore through a remote Poconos resort, destroying two mobile homes and leaving firefighters battling flames for hours.
Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company Chief Lynn Diehl told lehighvalleylive.com crews were called just after 11 p.m. to Sunny Rest Resort, a clothing-optional property and campground near Palmerton.
Crews found two mobile homes and a car ignited with spreading flames, she said. Investigators believe the initial cause was from a furnace in one of the torched mobile homes, she said.
There were no reported injuries and everyone escaped safely on their own, the fire chief said.
Water was hauled in by tanker trucks. Efforts were hampered by live electrical wires until PPL representatives arrived to help “de-energize the area,” Diehl said...

**Nudist loses High Court fight after walking naked past police officer**
Neil Cox was convicted of threatening or disorderly behaviour
By Danny Halpin, 23 September 2026
The High Court has thrown out an appeal brought by a naturist who was arrested after he walked naked past an off-duty police officer.
Neil Cox was previously fined £800 after being convicted at Crewe Magistrates’ Court of threatening or disorderly behaviour.
The charge stemmed from a walk that he took along Middlewood Way, near Macclesfield, on 22 August 2023.
A subsequent appeal against that conviction was thrown out at Chester Crown Court in November 2024.
Cox then mounted a further challenge at the High Court, which was also dismissed in a judgment handed down on Wednesday.
Dame Victoria Sharp, sitting alongside Mrs Justice Hill at the High Court in Manchester, said that Cox was waiting for a shop to open at roughly 6.30am when he passed Detective Chief Inspector Mark Whittaker and then two women.
At the time, he wore only a small shoulder bag containing a copy of naturism guidance issued by the College of Policing, as well as his mobile phone...

**Why does society remain terrified of public nudity despite its psychological benefits?**
By Christine Drews Sieger, September 20, 2026
Naturism encourages non-sexual group nudity, helping individuals build healthier body confidence by removing societal pressures.
Endless digital feeds push impossible physical ideals, making daily self-acceptance a punishing chore.
But a quiet, growing social movement promises relief by inviting people to ditch their garments entirely.
According to the BBC, naturism promotes non-sexual group nudity in ordinary social settings.
Modern research shows that shedding clothing around others helps heal damaged self-worth.
By observing unfiltered human forms, participants quickly recalibrate their standards of normal beauty.
After two decades of avoiding bikinis due to severe body dysmorphia, Helen Berriman eventually embraced social nudity through her husband in 2021—a shift that fundamentally reshaped her self-perception.
According to psychology professor Kerem Soylemez of Regent’s University London, naturism fundamentally revolves around that, “naturism is engaging in social nudity with no expectation, no presence of sexual stimulation.”
Digital media constantly distorts human appearance through filters and editing. Counteracting that artificial perfection requires actual exposure to ordinary individuals.
Psychology researcher Marina Rachitskiy similarly highlights how encountering everyday, unedited bodies recalibrates our understanding of beauty and normality:
“Being exposed to average bodies makes you readjust your perspective about what is normal.”...

America And The Philippines Plan The Launch Of Ambitious 4,000 Acre Economic Security Zone To Shore Up Supply Chains

In the latest development between the United States and the Philippines, the US Department of State announced that the two nations plan the launch of a historic economic security zone of four thousand acres which will shore up supply chains and it will be located in the main island of Luzon.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the fact sheet posted by the State Department. Some parts in boldface…

• Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs Jacob Helberg today announced the United States’ and the Philippines’ plans to establish a 4,000-acre industrial hub to secure inputs vital to American and global supply chains. The site is located in the Luzon Economic Corridor of the Philippines. The site—the first of its kind—is being designated by the Philippines as an Economic Security Zone, a new model for AI-native investment acceleration hubs being developed under the Pax Silica Initiative.
• The Economic Security Zone is part of a broader strategy to surge production for inputs vital to U.S. supply chains. It is expected to serve as a purpose-built platform for allied manufacturing—an investment acceleration hub where the specific industrial activities are shaped by market demand, host-country comparative advantages, and the evolving needs of the allied network. Situated within the Luzon Economic Corridor, the Zone can leverage the Philippines’ geographic centrality in the Indo-Pacific, its young and technically skilled workforce, and its deepening alliance with the United States.

Structure and Planned Governance

• Joint governance: The two governments intend to identify appropriate frameworks for the long-term development of the Zone that facilitate sovereign alignment and shared upside as it scales.
• Enhanced Operational Certainty: The Economic Security Zone is intended to fuse American expertise in institutions and legal regimes – internationally enforceable contracts, transparent regulatory standards, and expert dispute resolution – with enhanced access to the Philippines’ outstanding workforce and talent, mineral endowments, energy resources, and strategic position at the crossroads of Indo-Pacific trade.

The Philippines and Pax Silica

• Critical minerals: The Philippines holds significant reserves of nickel, copper, chromite, and cobalt—minerals increasingly vital to global supply chains.
• Infrastructure: The Luzon Economic Corridor (LEC) is a coordinated, high-impact investment in key sectors, including in transportation, energy, digital infrastructure, and advanced manufacturing. The LEC will transform Luzon into a more prosperous and interconnected region while delivering value to American investors.

The Economic Security Zone

• First of many: The Luzon hub is intended to be the first Zone in a broader industrial network—a constellation of integrated manufacturing sites, logistics corridors, and shared financial instruments spanning partner nations across multiple continents.
• System transformation: This interconnection can transform Pax Silica industrial policy from a collection of bilateral projects into a genuine system capable of competing with—and ultimately displacing—the concentrated supply chains on which the world currently depends.

For insight, Pax Silica is the State Department’s flagship effort on artificial intelligence (AI) and supply chain security, advancing new economic security consensus among allies and trusted partners. To learn more, click here.

Meanwhile the Philippine News Agency (PNA) published its news article about this development revealing that the Philippines officially joined the Pax Silica Initiative described as a strategic coalition among fourteen states to create a secure supply for semiconductors and AI. To read the news article, click here.

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: What is your reaction to this development? Do you think both the Philippines and America will benefit from the planned 4,000-acre special economic security zone in the long-term?

You may answer in the comments below. If you prefer to answer privately, you may do so by sending me a direct message online.

Thailand Eyes Over $600 Million in Additional Tourism Spending Through Domestic Stimulus

As the government of Thailand plans to spend money to support hotel stays and tourism-related expenses, the nation is targeting more than $600 million in additional tourism spending, according to a news article by VnExpress.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the news article of VnExpress. Some parts in boldface…

Thailand is targeting more than 20 billion baht (US$601 million) in additional tourism spending through a domestic travel stimulus.

The government plans to spend about 4 billion baht to subsidize hotel stays and other tourism expenses, Tourism and Sports Minister Surasak Phancharoenworakul said as cited by Bloomberg.

The package, covering one million entitlements, is expected to be submitted to the Cabinet on Sept. 22, Bangkok Post reported.

The measure reflects Thailand’s growing reliance on domestic travelers to support tourism, a major source of jobs and foreign exchange for Thailand.

Thailand received 21.7 million foreign tourists through Sept. 12, down 3.4% from a year earlier. Their spending fell 1.9% to 1.06 trillion baht.

Domestic travel has performed better, with trips by Thais rising 2% to 142 million and spending increasing 1.9% to 824.6 billion baht.

Under the plan, the government will subsidize accommodation by up to 2,000 baht per entitlement. Travelers will also receive co-payment vouchers worth up to 2,000 baht for restaurants, spas, shops and tourism activities, with higher benefits available in secondary destinations. Each person can use up to five entitlements.

The subsidies are scheduled to run from Nov. 1 to Dec. 15, pause during the peak New Year period, and resume on Jan. 16, 2027, through the end of February.

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: What is your reaction to this development? Do you think this development will improve Thailand’s tourism appeal? Do you think the government should be more involved with the tourism industry?
