Well, I still need to iron interfacing to the back, zigzag the edges (roughly where the basted rectangle is) and sew the patch onto my denim jacket, but the embroidery part is done! 😅
I also discovered that my vintage metal hoop is rubbing off its paint, so there's a blue circle around her. 🙃
One of the projects from the mixed up pile of floss last #WIPWednesday is officially back in action for this one.
This is Beachfront Home by @infinitybear and I've been working on it on and off for what seems like years at this point, every time I pick it up I remember how much bigger than expected it is! Today saw some progress on the sky, while binge watching driving mock test videos 🙈

We have our next female scientist, Tu Youyou. Now I admit to never having heard of her. A Chinese woman with a degree in pharmacology, she was led something called Project 523, a secret government project to find a cure for malaria. She discovered that extract of sweet wormwood could be effective. The preparation of the herb was discovered in an ancient text called Emergency Prescriptions Kept Up One's Sleeve. After purification, the medicine was known as artemisinin. Her contribution was not known in the international community for a long time. In 2015 she was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.

This #WIPWednesday has been mostly focused on cross stitching. I have finished the entire centre strip of my faith cross project now, apart from some white bits which I need to wait for better daylight to complete. I am moving on to working on the right hand side next. ☺️
I also cast on yet another pair of socks, these being for a family member. The pattern is “Elise” by Ashley Ratnam and is featured in “52 Weeks Of Socks Vol 2”. It is a very enjoyable pattern so far!
For this #WIPWednesday I have been mostly doing cross stitch with a bit of knitting sprinkled in. I worked on my faith cross project and have made some progress on the base of the cross. I also shopped for floss and aida for a new start which I am quite excited about. Even though I still have a way to go to finish my current cross stitch, it is always reassuring to have a new start ready to go in the stash. The photo is of my progress today ☺️
A cosy Sunday afternoon means cross stitch (and possibly also some knitting). I am working on this beautiful piece, a cross with the words “faith can move mountains” and a small landscape featured in it. I’ve been making good progress and I am very excited to have this hanging on my wall soon!
In knitting news, the second “Daybreak” sock has been casted on and I got about 10cm done last night. Totally seasonally inappropriate but I’m excited to wear them as well!

I hate back-stitching though. Obviously it is sometimes necessary to give it a nice finished look, but I do not like doing it at all 😖
A while ago I bought a cross stitch pattern to make as a gift for friends who are expecting their first baby. At that point I thought: plenty of time to finish this!
And then life happened and yesterday I realised I only have two or three weeks left until the baby comes! Still enough time, but since I can’t work on it every day, I had to start sooner than later. So yesterday I sorted everything out and began stitching. Made good progress today, so feeling good about it 💪
A few weeks ago I had the sudden urge to try cross stitching, but could not find any aida cloth (it was Sunday after all, everything was closed), but luckily I have a friend who is just as obsessed with hobby-collecting as I am, so an hour later she was at my door, cloth in hand 😍🤭
Then of course I forgot about it, as you do, until today! So here's my first cross stitch piece 🙌
Currently making it into a patch by using fusible webbing onto cotton and edge stitching it.
