🐜🌵 Entomologist Mark Moffett observed tiny cone #ants climbing onto red harvester ants to lick and nibble their bodies.

The larger harvester ants remain completely motionless during these sessions and even allow the smaller ants to groom inside their open jaws. The interaction mirrors cleaning stations found in the #ocean where small #fish remove #parasites from larger #predators.

Happy Easter!

A week ago Saturday, we went on a drive out Shea Road along the wash outside of Parker, Arizona to go searching for big blooming Palo Verde trees. This one was lovely.

A couple shots of a bridge over the Gila River in Kearney #Arizona. I couldn't cross because there was a locked gate, but after seeing it in person (I found it on the map before I went) I didn't really want to drive my car over it anyway lol

I’ve got my Aeropress, but frankly on a train I don’t always want to deal with the whole process.

I have emergency drip coffee bags of good coffee. They seem much more popular in Asia (most Asian specialty coffee places in Taiwan, Singapore, Seoul will carry a variety of these. And in fact I got these from a Korean coffee shop in LA)

Nine states had their warmest winter ever recorded

In addition to a lack of snowfall compared to the historical average, these nine states had their warmest year on record.

By Jesse Ferrell, Mar 11, 2026

"Winter barely showed up the way it usually does for millions of people from #Oregon to #Texas. Nine states logged their warmest meteorological winter on record, defined as Dec. 1 through the end of February. These dates are agreed upon by meteorologists for record-keeping and comparison purposes, but the historical average dates of the lowest temperatures varies from city to city.

"NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information, which has records back to 1895, said this winter was the warmest in Oregon, #Nevada, #Arizona, #Utah, #Wyoming, #Colorado, #NewMexico, Texas and #Oklahoma."

Not all people value serenity or seek it. But those that do, do so by thinking deeply.

They seek not to rule or control the world, but rather, to understand it, and to come to an understanding with it.
