I spent the day with @bright_helpings and about 60 other #antifascist activists outside a #refugee hostel in #Manchester. Fascists have been coming down here every Sunday to abuse the people living here. Every time they have been outnumbered and outclassed.
We were expecting tensions to be high after the Synagogue attack, and decided not to chant or yell back at the fash, just have a good time among ourselves building community. Being "boring" means their videos don't go viral, depriving them of income and attention. But they tried their best to rile us, getting in our faces with their cameras, yelling queerphobic, antisemitic and islamophobic abuse.
The weather was pretty terrible, but the rain died down after a while. My bones are tired and aching from the standing around but we had a good time, while the fash looked miserable all day.
Around 6pm the last of them crawled away, and we chanted "say it loud, say it clear, refugees are welcome here!" before leaving.
