French police ‘strike’ over officer charged with assault in Marseilles
"Thousands of #police officers in #Marseilles, the #Paris area and other parts of #France are observing a work-to-rule to demand the release of a policeman charged with assault during rioting this month.
The officer in custody is accused of seriously injuring a young man of north African origin in the southern port city. Three other officers have also been charged and are under house arrest."
