One of your favorite alternatives to one of Microsoft's most popular products will probably change its name over the next 24 hours. We're super excited about it.

Stay tuned!

Why? I am not looking forward to telling everyone in my community ‘oh, we were on Codeberg, but they changed their name and now we’re on [whatever new name you’ve come up with]’

@ChrisWere No, as far as Codeberg is concerned, we don't plan to build everything from scratch again. ^n

I don't think that makes any sense to be honest. That will just create more problems for everyone.

What a cliff hanger!

Here's 5 internet cents that you have come up with a new name for the "pull-request" just like Gitlab called it a "merge-request".

Als Antwort auf ashwinvis has not

@ashwinvis We actually considered that from time to time. codeberg.org/forgejo/discussio… mentions this, for example. ~f

"one of Microsoft's most popular products" is it the Zune? is OpenZune renaming to LibreZune?
Als Antwort auf Codeberg.org

Changing the name of Forgejo? I wouldn't be sad because I'm never sure if I'm pronouncing it right? 😅
Als Antwort auf Codeberg.org

So many thought it was Codeberg that would change its name XD

One of Microsofts most popular products - that narrows it down to Outlook, Excel or Powerpoint. Surely it can't be Flight Simulator.

An open source alternative... Must be Thunderbird.

I have recently moved all my important repositories from Github to Codeberg. I hope your changes go well.

Oops, sorry for the confusion! We were actually talking about Luanti (formerly known as Minetest)!

We wish the @Minetest team all the best with its rebranding effort: blog.minetest.net/2024/10/13/I…

For better or worse, we will stick to our established names for Codeberg and Forgejo.

@Minetest Now that I've seen the actual change... this is pretty cool!

I was definitely not expecting it to have been Minetest rebranding, but I do agree that it has been overdue for a rebranding since forever ago.

@coolesding @Minetest Well, truth be told, we did expect some confusion (as part of this little stunt to help them out), but we did try to minimize it by removing any insinuation that we had a role in that decision. We also clarified both in public (through hints) and in private (in detail, if a person was very confused) as much as possible so as to not make everyone panic a lot, but we couldn't reveal it.

After doing that, people started trying to guess what other project this was about. ~n
